Im getting ready to camp on Mother's Day weekend. Gotta get my awning mount welded and put my tent back on. Then I should be good. I heard a few dispersed campsites in George Washington National Forest are "open". Not sure about trails

Makes sense, you ever thought about converting it? I know it's more of a PITA on second gens but I think it'd be worth it on yours so you don't have to swap everything to a new one. Lots of good work on yours

Not a paint at all on 2nd gens. Just time. The parts are bolt for bolt, wire for wire ( minus dash light). The hardest part is the cross member and the shifter arm. Seriously. @lowinhz finished mine in 2 1/2 days. It was actually 3 full days but a lot of time was lost due to a mistake on our end.

I don't have the links anymore but I read about someone using skateboard wheels with unistrut to build DIY drawer glides that was really slick and supposedly was stronger than regular glides

Same here! This weekend I begin my engine swap after blowing the head gasket on #6.
I'd love to SAS it and if I knew someone local that could do it, I'd drop the coins. Though every mod on the truck was either done by me or I was there to help, I would pay for this as I'd want it done quicker and without worries for the future.

You have a nice rig there!

Finally! A RTT that doesn't kill the CoG and add a ton of air drag on the highway.

Haven't posted any pics of my setup this year. I decided to only run two bed bars so I can tuck the cover into the bed when its open. I also flipped the tent this year to open passenger side instead of having everything open the same side. Gives a little more privacy when your parked in a group of people.

Got my tent back in February. Only camped once in it (back yard) because the state forests/parks are closed. Me and the kids are really bummed out. Not like the weather has been that nice here in sw pa anyways.

Anyhow enough bitching. Im considering an oem style roof rack. Does it come in handy while camping with the RTT?

One of these days, I hope to fab up a lockable, quick removal bracket. Quick and easy to change sides based on the need/campsite.

I flip flopped the bolts that Bamf supplied. Plus you need a allen key and a 13mm wrench to take the bracket off - x6. And a different size for the actual awning. If the awning goes missing, ehh... it was $110

I'm in the same boat. Got the tent and built the rack, then everything shit down. I got it out in the yard, but going to ANF Sunday to camp/hunt turkey with a couple friends. It'll be a nice get away.

Another cheap option to consider is the hook road rack or offroad(I can't remember), it is what I'm considering as I'll need a way to mount the kayaks. It seems like a more functional option for just a little more cash.
