Fans are USB, as are some lights I have - but I like his idea of a “hard” wired light on a dimmer. I might end up making my own box similar to his.

I have a small usb power block. Plug the light with a switch so I can turn the light on and off inside then charge my phone.

It’s just a standard charging pack with multiple USB then a $6 usb switch off Amazon. Real simple.

I have a Tepui Baja Series Kukenam that fits 4 people (snugly). We have used it for two adults, and two teens (14 and 10), and although snug, it works. I added a second mattress and a condensation pad underneath. I carry it on top of a KV Voodoo MAX Modular ALUMAX 10" High Aluminum Bed Rack, and the tent goes a bit out of the rack towards the back, but still stable and firm. Overall, very happy with it. Easy to open and close. I take it off the truck with the rack (lift to the ceiling of the garage). Check it out20180828_224914.jpg 20181013_170839.jpg 20180902_110447.jpg

Ya that sucks.... i just ordered a Walkabout 72 too...
Whats weird is there are others on here that say they love theirs. Maybe he just got a bad one? The ARB Simpson 3 is smaller than the 72 so really wouldnt work out for me

This past weekend i wanted to do something about my 1" mattress in the FSR Odyssey. I removed the mattress from the tent and unzipped the quilted mattress cover and found they used a very firm 1" hard board to serve as their base floor and bottom of the mattress. Then on top of that was a loose 1/2" foam mattress that didnt support much of anything. So i went and bought a 2" topper, used the thin foam as a template and cut it out. Placed it on top of the hard foam base and slid it back into the quilted topper which zipped fully without any problem. Threw it back into the tent and it made a world of difference!

Tent closed and latched just fine as well.

Nice! I’m seriously considering ordering some 2” foam to replace all of the foam in my GFC. They use a dual density foam, but even flipped into the soft side it’s still pretty stiff. I don’t understand why all of the companies use such firm foam. I don’t think I’ve heard anybody say that the original mattress is great.

My smittybilt mattress doesn't bother me other than the fact it slides around, I plan on putting some rubber mat type stuff down. Like those mats folks use in kitchen drawers/cabinets, velcro them down.

I added 1.5" foam on top of the existing panels in my GFC. Got them from a mattress shop here in town and had them cut to spec so they sit perfectly on the stock cushions. They even fit inside the GFC fitted sheets that I got too.

It's a little bit of a grunt to get the tent closed up, but it made a tremendous difference in comfort and quality of sleep.

Good to hear. I feel like mine is already difficult enough to close without any additional material, so I was hoping by going from 3" down to 2" memory foam would help with closing as well as possibly provide enough room to keep thin bedding inside.

I thought about that approach too, but when I tested it I found that the foam was just not firm enough to keep me from bottoming out. I definitely can't keep any bedding up there but that's not a deal breaker for me.
