Someone said on here to use stick on carpet squares. Air gets between the mattress and carpet. And it also insulates the bottom a bit.

I found this stuff which looks like it would work perfectly for half the price. The only con is weight. For a 4'x7' piece it would come in at 23 lbs, but I have no idea what a standard anti condensation pad weighs in at. I may just stop being a cheap ass and buy the tepui one.

Keep in mind that it has to have the ability to fold (and move around) during the process of setting up / taking down the tent. The open length is technically shorter than the closed 'length', if ya know what I mean

I looked around for a good alternative for a long time. Get the Tepui mat, it's totally worth it. And while $150 seems expensive for a plastic mat, just think of it as part of the overall cost. It's basically nothing. 3-4 tanks of gas?

That's where I'm at now. Yeah I could spend half the cost and DIY something, or just buy the mat that was actually designed for the tent.

Looking at purchasing a Tepui Explorer Autana 4 within the next six months or so. Is there a good time to purchase in order to take advantage of any sales?

In late March REI will come out with their “20% off any single item” coupon for members. They’ll also do store pickup for the tent so no shipping cost either.

    https://www.rei.com/product/174368/thule-tepui-explorer-autana-4-tent

edit: based on the fact that the other color is ‘discontinued’ and this one is low inventory, I doubt rei will still carry the tent come March time.

I didn’t attach the annex for the photo, but yeah.
It’ll allow us to step down onto a flat, dry, surface no matter what the ground is like, no matter if we use the annex or not.

How tall are the bars? Looks like you have to squat or crouch under the tent?

I do; I can comfortably sit under the tent, but not stand up unless I’m under the vestibule/near the ladder.

Cool concept! You got me brain stroking ideas for a put out kitchen and gear/toy storage.

Quite a few things at this point..
I've been debating the anti-condensation mat for my tent, but the last 2 times I was out I didn't get any condensation on under my mat. I'm wondering if I'm just getting lucky, or maybe I won't need it?

Snugtop with reinforced roof. Hopefully get to take it on a shakedown run soon to see if the shell can hold up fine.
