Sweetness. Think I read about the trailer you have there some where here in TW. If so can you link it up? I have a very basic 4x8 trailer and thinking about its future state.

I've skipped the foam altogether. It costs a bit more, but an Exped Megamat is such a better mattress that it's worth every penny. Here's a link to my review.

Exped Megamat Review – 1 Year Later
If you have a Mt. Shasta sized tent, it fits perfectly. And allows for more "stuff" to remain in the tent, since it compresses more than standard foam. If you have another size then, they have three sizes:

You did the 1.5"? Did you replace the existing mattress, or put it on top?

I don't know; I have an inflatable air mattress now and I don't really enjoy inflating it, re-inflating it, packing it up, etc.

It self inflates, self deflates, and stays in the RTT so no packing it up. I loved mine the the RTT and will probably swap the cushions in my GFC for the air mattress.

Can confirm these are really awesome, and extremely well insulated. I have the single version and it's R-9.5 or something just ridiculous.

edit: R-8.1 which is still ridiculous.

I know what you mean, but this isn't like most air mattresses. The foam interior means that it mostly self-inflates. And packing it up is just folding up the tent with it inside.

I put it on top. If you keep a thick bag in the tent, it may get really hard to close it back up. I usually pull the foam topper out, leave the bag in, and then put the topper in the sleeping bag's stuff sack. Not how I really want it to be, but I have to pull one or the other out to close the tent without it looking like it is going to explosively open.
You might be able to get away with 2.5 or maybe a 3 inch memory foam by itself. I've thought about trying that. They have a 4" pad as well and I would just about bet you could do that just by itself. The 3" is a little cheaper than the 1.5" I have. I may have to look at doing one of those to replace both of the mattress I have now.
    You got me thinking Nav.

    From the Amazon review:
"Got rid of my mother in law with this thing
I bought this mat for my mother-in-law who shows up at my house at the most inconvenient times and I've decided she is best contained in the back yard behind a security fence. I have no idea how comfortable this is, but my sex life has improved ten fold using this containment strategy and her disposition never changes anyways. In reality, this is the best, most comfortable mat you will get at any price and you will never regret a wonderful night's sleep. I about 7 sleeping pads and lead back country adventures and jeeping trips. This baby has never met it's match. slow to blow up perhaps? who cares! You can sleep on vesicular basalt or highly irregular weathered granite and think you are in the Hilton. Buy it, they are getting harder to find."

Can confirm awesomeness, also a convert.

It also packs down WAAAYYY smaller than the stock ones which alleviates VVVVVVV

See above, my Roam with the Exped, 2 pillows, 2 sleeping bags and 2 bag liners still packs down much more than just the stock mattress by itself. That alone was worth the price, being much more comfortable is icing on the cake.

Lots of bolt on chrome stuff
I've had a vision of this in my mind for a couple years now, but never made the time to put it together. How do you like it? Do you use the flat bed for ATV's, etc? Does the tent up high make a noticeable impact on handling due to the COG?

    Yes to kayaks, toys, etc.
No to center of gravity. Trailer weighs a lot more than the tent does.

I purchased the CVT Hybrid Series Mt. Shasta during their Black Friday sale. I've been abroad working but will take a drive from Sacramento to Bend to pick it up the first week of January. I really preferred a hardshell but the dimensions would not fit the short bed. There really have been no reviews as of yet so maybe I'll get the courage to get in front of the camera for others to check out. Here are some photos CVT Vegas shared with me.

That’s pretty interesting. Is it just a soft shell tent with a hard top so you can mount stuff?
