You still can, just don’t close the LST shades, they are a completely separate layer

Not at all, the whole set up weighs some thing like 250 pounds maximum, which is like one American sized human being standing on four rafters. Those rafters could support several humans.

Built some bed bars for my new rtt yesterday. The goal was low and easy access to my bed still since the tent is so narrow. I’m very pleased with it. I just need to add hi lift mounts and paint them.

I've got a Smittybilt Gen 2 Overlander tent. I picked it up from 4 wheel parts as soon as it came out over the summer. I really wish I'd have gotten the XL over the standard, the extra room would be nice, but being since it was my first RTT i didn't know. I'm not sure how the warranties are on other RTT brands, but the one through 4 Wheel Parts is pretty tits. No questions asked for 2 years as long as you can bring the majority of the tent back to them they'll replace or repair for 10% of the purchase price.

I originally had it mounted on bed bars, but have since moved to my current setup on the Mobtown full height bed rack over my soft topper. I'm definitely digging being up a little bit higher. Makes it a little more of a challenge to get the dogs in, but being able to just about walk under it is a bonus for extra shelter.

These pictures are from a trip i did in November up on Old NC 105 in Pisgah National Forest area. It was a brisk 25 degrees that night, but my little Mr. Buddy heater and a good sleeping bag made all the difference.

I was searching through the thread to find what people were using for round tube and found this, so thanks. Did some looking and found these on McMaster carr since the ones on Amazon were like $10 a piece for stainless steel. Just wanted to share with the group.

Eating my words here from an earlier post. Never thought I’d sleep on a air mattress again. My 77x30 came in and could not be more impressed with this thing. Been inflated going on 72 hours here at home. I fell asleep on it watching football with my son yesterday. Son slept on it last night in his room. Zero pressure loss and still firm like I like it.

I did get impatient with the “self inflation” and pumped it up in about 25/35 pumps on the whoopy Cushion pump they send.

Real world test coming soon on our next adventure. I’m sure it will perform as it did here at home. Highly recommend.

Yeah the self inflating isn’t at all quick. I’ll generally set up camp, open the mattress and go do other stuff. When I climb up to go to bed I’ll top it off which only takes 6-7 pumps. It is a great pad though, wait until you get it out camping.

    Lots of sail boat fuel
Yup. Pretty much what I went with.

For bonus points you can put a shouldered lifting eye nut after the regular nuts and run a lock through them as a mild antitheft device.

My friend let me borrow his REI variant. Oh man. What a game changer. Like you said the self inflating portion was extremely slow and I got impatient while test fitting. But damn is it worlds more comfortable. And it fits exactly my mattress while allowing me to close it inside no issue.

My Smittybilt mattress has finally seen it's last days after 3.5 years of constant use. I've been kinda seeing whats out there as a replacement and hadn't considered a self inflating mattress until reading the last few posts..

My freespirit recreation 55” high country tent had those zip down windows and they were great. It’s hard to go back to window rods after having zipped windows

Is there any foam in it, or is it just air?

Foam and air. It’s pretty nice way more comfortable than the foam rtt mattresses and not bouncy like an air mattress.

    OH IKWYM!!

Conduct an in-depth visual inspection from the ladder with appropriate clothing on and the occasional pressing of hand onto the mattress with an accompanying "yep, that feels comfortable"

First night in the tent where it was below freezing. Overall slept great and stayed warm all night. Broken Bow is beautiful this time of year
