Fortunately, my neighbor is a good guy and said he would pay for the damages - which will probably be a new tent.

 

I bet it will still work!

 

I know FRS does not sell replacement parts but if my neighbor (or his insurance) will cover the cost of a new tent, I may take the money, add some money of my own, and upgrade to a hard shell.

We'll see.

 

That’s a solid move. I have done the same over the years. Currently have an iKamper and AluCab. My taco has a GFC camper.

The iKamper is plush! GFC and AluCab are wedges, so your really just gonna pass out in there. So the rainy days I definitely prefer the size of the iKamper.

The GFC allows me to access the bed while it’s deployed, which is also nice to have your little heater rocking down there

Those are nice. Hard to beat that design. Maximizes space. CVT makes great tents.

 

And.... The FRS I have/had goes for about three grand. The CVS goes for about $1700.

 

On a related note, I saw a similar tent somewhere that was electrically powered. You flip a switch and the tent opens. Flip it the other way and it folds down. Any idea who makes one like that?

 

I believe gofsr makes these as well.

Camped with @gixxerphil this weekend and got to test out the new fire pit!

 

How'd it work for you? I have had my eye on one like that.

Aww man it was great! Couldn't have been easier or more convenient TBH. The grill attachment makes it so easy. The only thing i will say is put foil over the pit before you cook cause the grease from food will stain it.

 

Which one is it you got? I know there are a couple that look like that. I like the metal base it straps too also, really nice.

Its made very well and i was surprised at the quality when i got it TBH. Some of the prices are outrageous if you ask me.

Question for you guys with more experience. I just got a Thule fold out tent, still waiting on the bed rack to mount it. Anyway, I'd like to use it at a music festival later in the year. Camp site is limited to 10' so I think I would have to have it flip out with the ladder facing the rear of the truck. There's nothing preventing me from mounting it sideways like that right?

 

No, shouldn't be. Really depends on the rack you are getting? Ive seen ppl mount it like that. It just looks awkward is all.

 

No, only the height of your rack and how much you want to bend over to get access to your truckbed.
