It would just be depending on your rack you got. I believe the tracks on that tent can also be flipped to run side to side so it can flip off the back of the bed.

Thanks guys. That's what I thought but wanted to double check if there was any kind of issue. Rack I'm waiting on is the Cali Raised extruded aluminum one. Campsite is 10' x 35'. You basically get a lane to park in and then space for a tent and popup canopy. At Lost Lands

my couple year old tepui can be mounted either way. unless thule changed anything when they bought tepui, im guessing it would be the same.

assuming you bought it new, youll have to attach the rails to the bottom. its a little bit of a hassle, i had to open the tent at like a 90 degree angle and lay it on the side so i could screw the things in.

im not too familiar with the cali raised rack, but if the bars are flat with a hole/guide down the middle, you can attach the rails straight through and not clamp down on the square portion of the bars. if you get the round bars then you have to go around them.

idk about lost lands, but its prob a pretty strict festival. bonarroo and coachella were the most strict fests ive been to. sonic bloom and beanstalk were free for alls. my gf went to waka and sounds like it was pretty chill there too.

take some wrenches and you can move the thing however you want when you get there if its pretty lax

    Are you going solo?

If you are snagging a couple spots with some friends, just have a friend park a bit further over so you can open it sideways.

Otherwise, I would prob recommend having it fold out over the back so you don't encroach on neighbors...or try to snag an end spot if possible. Good luck, always wanted to go to lost lands!

Planning on going with a group. Not entirely sure how many sites we'll be buying yet. I had thought about doing that, especially since at least one of them will probably be driving a car that won't sit as deep into their campsite anyway. I'll have to play around with it a little bit. It's still a ways off anyway.

deff get a tribe together. if you can park 2 cars next to each other on each side you get a tight square between 4 cars.

with my crude paint skills, i'd take spots 1, 2, 5, and 6. or any similar combination. then you setup tarps on the backs of all of them and have a dope hangout shade spot.

man i miss big fests like those, but small ones are super chill too

10x35 is what we had at a festival we went to. Tent fits great in the side. Along with some other tents.

I assume this is with two camp sites? I just don't want to intrude on neighboring space and I think the ladder would be really pushing it to stay within the alloted space.

nope this is one site the easy up, truck, blue and orange tent are all the same spot. Looking at it, it might be bigger than 10x35. might be 15x35.

Naw, a tent would take up more/same space next to the vehicle I think. Festivals are a big reason I want a RTT.

For those who are using their tents on top of a cap/topper - what rack are you using? Prinsu, front runner, etc?

I’m running a hardshell tent on a Prinsu toprac with a reinforced Snugtop Rebel shell.

The only thing I’ll note is that due to the shape of the Rebel/where the original tracks were installed on it, using the standard Prinsu mounting feet would’ve pulled the tracks up from the shell when tightened down. To solve this I ordered Sherpa Equipment Co’s adjustable contoured mounting feet, all good now.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I have both. My only issue with the front runner, is that the bars aren’t flat with the surrounding edge. The edge sits up higher like an extremely shallow basket.

I rank into issues mounting an FSR to it. Got it done but was a pita. While I do like the FrontRunner for all it’s gadgets you can get, at the end of the almost the whole rack is taken up by the tent, so I would get the Prinsu. Way easier to deal with.

I think it’s a leer 100xr. Not a heavy duty model. It’s holding up fine with the tent though, which weighs no more than the roof rack and all the other shit I used to carry on it.

I will say though, the weight of a shell with roof rack for a while and now the tent has taken a toll on the bed of the truck.

I am literally looking at bed stiffeners right now. Are you using them?

If you’re going to run any weight above the bed I would highly recommend them. Especially the TC ones which are taller and offer more support than most other bed stiffeners.

I’ve run mine since I got the truck and still have problems in my bed with the weight.

I posted about it a few pages back

I went with Leitner Designers stiffeners. Here are a few pics for reference. There are many other manufacturers that sell them that are reputable and do the job; I like these though and haven't seen many posts on TW with them. They do the job and are very well made.
