    Annex users!

For the tents that extend and cover the ladder, with an annex below, who has a zipper that starts on the "left" side? Who has a zipper on the tent vs the annex?

If you are talking left side when looking at the tent ladder my Smittybilt XL has a left side zipper start and now that I started typing this I dont remember if the zipper is on the annex or the tent...... and its packed away for winter. I think its on the tent but dont hold me to it fully.

If i remember correctly, my zipper was on the annex of my TuffStuff Ranger, and started from the left side when facing the ladder

    Okay, interesting.

I wonder if that was a recent design change?

Side note... I spilled a ton of fucking lighter fluid on my tent annex... ive been airing it out in the garage.
Was thinking i'd take it to a self car wash, soap it scrub it, then power wash it (but not too powerful)... any one think taht would or would not work?

Other side of BFE is best place to be…if for nothing but the sweet sound of silence and zero humans. But hear you on that stinking wind. It has humbled me on more than a few occasions. Strap down everything on the rtt now with minimal slapping at night. It’s the cooking that has been most challenging. Wind break was useless and settled for a Turkey sammich a few nights on my last trip.

Edit for pic. Mexicano 2 in big bend ranch state park. March 2-4 2022. It was situated in a “bowl” but was sucking in the west/southwest wind. Yedra camp the next few days was better.

    Yeah.
Found the below on the interwebs. Sounds like it might help. If you have a large bin, I'd let it soak in the baking soda and borax for a a while, then rinse it well with a hose sprayer since you probably can't run it in a washer. Then let it dry in direct sun, maybe for a few days just to evaporate as much as possible. Or, your method might work just as well as long as you dry it in the sun. Sounds like some people use lighter fluid to remove stains from clothes.

    Large Spill
Soak the stained garment in 1 gallon warm water with 1/2 cup each of baking soda and borax added. Soak for an hour or more, depending on the severity of the spill.

Launder the garments following the directions on the clothing label, with laundry detergent. Launder garments soiled with lighter fluid by themselves. Do not add other clothing to the load.

Check for any remaining residue after laundering, and repeat presoak and laundering steps as necessary.

Air dry the garments once laundering is finished. Exposure to air and sunlight will help any residual traces of lighter fluid evaporate. Do not dry the garment in the dryer.

I drove to Chattanooga Tennessee over the weekend (in a snow storm) and picked up my new CVT Mt. St. Helens. When the weather gets better I'll open it up and take some more pics.

Installed the Hybrid today, pretty impressive how much nicer this one is compared to our 10 year old Mt Rainier. This mofo is heavy though!

Mounted my awning yesterday. Fits the cab perfectly and doesn't block my Plano case.

I mounted it directly to my roof rack using spacers. I was only able to use the bottom channel, because the openings on the Prinsu didn't line up to both mounting channels on the CVT. Mounting it this way got it barely above my head which is a plus.

This is the post that I got the idea from but he could use both channels in the mounting rail on his awning.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-prinsu-how-to-thread.412679/#post-11672703

I went back to look at adding L-brackets to bolt the upper channel to the Prinsu bars, but I can actually rock the truck with the awning how it is in the picture.

Anyone think I'll have long term issues mounting it like this or running a similar mounting setup?

Looks great, I've been considering similar setup.
