Well I already have it on... I guess I'd have to go to the shop, have them throw one on and see how it performs?
I guess I would be afriad of hitting the trails and bouncing around and having the wheel well slam into the tire...

FFS nothing easy around here I swear to heyzoos.

I just made the switch from a pioneer Mt Rainier extended fly to a hybrid Mt Rainier standard fly and am pretty pleased so far. Have spent two nights in it so far and have probably set it up/torn down about 5 times now. The only issue I have with the buckles is reaching the front middle one but that's due to interference with the rear bar on my cab rack so not a issue with the tent at all. I'll bet the cover is a little easier to close on a standard fly.

idk if you'd be rubbing or not as it depends on so many variables but i just hate the squatted look in the back. Ive probably got about 900 plus pounds loaded in rear with all my gear and stuff and still maintain rake

    Yeah.
You should have no problem with rubbing in that size, it's only slightly taller (I run the same size on stock suspension, never rubbed). I run Firestone RideRites on the back to adjust for a full load of gear. My setup with rack, RTT, and all gear is probably about 700 lbs. I put 20 psi in the bags and am good to go. Without gear I run 12 psi.

I dont even buckle em lol. I just pull cover over and call it a day. Never had an issue with water or anything getting in there. Just make sure everything is tucked.

Friend of mine is getting ready to sell his Desert Armor Tank hardshell RTT + awning. He said it was used 2 times, and the awning was never used. Told me $3k for both. Think thats a good price? Bumping this for him. He is in Occoquan, VA, local delivery possible. Can get pics to anyone interested

If I recall, that’s close to selling price early 2021, I’ll check to see what they charged me to not deliver a tent.

edit: just checked, early 2021 charge 3,199 for tent and annex.

He said he's open to other offers too.. I guess I should tell him to get on here.

i forgot that you had such a horrible time with them. I have only dealt with FSR and Roofnest, and much more recently GFC (who i 1000% recommend) Ive been doing the super lightweight wedge life and its great!

I’m in the process of getting a runner, then I’ll start my tent search again.

Wedge life is great! I can stand up, i can access the bed from the sides, and it only weighs ~275lbs. Wait times are way down from where they started too.

Yes. At the highest point, at the back, is over 8 feet tall. Might be closer to 9.

Yah lol. Thats what I have then. I think my rear high clearance with swingout and spare 35 is around 350lbs.

Depends on which wedge tent but you definitely cannot stand up in a GFC superlite. Sold the superlite and went back to a Smittybilt. Only cost $1150 after taxes right now at 4 wheel parts

those with GFCs, how do you normally get in?

    a ladder on the outside?

if you climb through the bed how do you close the tailgate and upper portion?

do you have a step stool in the bed or like a dedicated drawer you stand on?

Alright I caved and ordered the CVT Shasta hybrid extended fly....Was hoping it was in stock in Bend so I could save on some of the shipping but it wasn't. $2165 to my door, hopefully intact and complete. They only had 2 in stock when I inquired yesterday. I use low bed bars so the annex prolly won't get used until I devise a way to lift the tent on occasion when want it higher. Now to start planning the next outing!

I run that setup albeit with 2 bars for the RTT instead of a rack. It does have a little squat when fully loaded but NOT awful. It works offroad and only rubs a bit at full lock/flex upfront presumably due to the wheel specs I'm running. Eventually I'll swap out the suspension, but for now I'm satisfied. There's about 200lbs of equipment in the bed here (not including the tent/bars).
