I hadn't been too worried about it (but I keep mine in the garage off-season and I tend to be in it on-season) - I did buy these to attach other things to my billie bars, perhaps lock bolts (like what came with the billie bars) with those would be enough for you.

    Too much to list
I'm stuck... I want to "upgrade" to a hard top tent but also a RSI cap... My issue, ordering a Go Fast camper will essentially be the same price as a RSI and whatever hard top tent I pick so I need someone who has used either, or both to chime in with their thoughts. It's obviously a fairly large investment either way and not one I want to make twice. Like my current soft RTT and Cali Raised rack set up.

Just for the sake of more context, I'm trying to stay away from a camper or RV type set up. Generally the family and I load up for the trails then just stop whenever we find a good spot. I don't like campgrounds so I want to avoid hauling a camping trailer if at all possible so thats not an option.

I've said that if I was to do it all again, I would buy an integrated setup like a GFC vs. a cap plus a hardshell, because you are right at the end of the day it's nearly the same price. I moved from a softshell atop my cap, to a hardshell, and while it worked, it became too small for my family of four so we've moved to a ground tent, for now. If the bedding in the GFC is big enough for your family I would think that's a good move as long as you won't miss being able to remove the tent. I don't miss the tent up there and I am in fact in the process of buying a very small off road trailer that I can put a large softshell RTT on.

Lone peak might be an option if you have time to wait

@51Beets I think everyone has a wait time. Check out Lone Peak, GFC and Super Pacific. I’m liking Lone Peak. But how big is your family? Those integrated shells won’t have the room on the sleeping platform as a RTT like the iKamper. Good luck with your decision.
I’m running an RSI and Bushveld II. Works for me.

i have the cvt mt washington and i think it’s exactly what you’re looking for. it has two rack bars that can be put on and off the top of the tent and can put anything up there. with my 12” RCI bed rack, and the prinsu roof rack, it’s nearly flush with each other (give or take maybe 3/4”)

Pretty sure my GFC is ~175 lbs. I dont usually load anything on top of the roof, but I think the static weight rating is 500lbs. There are people in the fb group that put kayaks up there.

    pic for attention

Don't think you would regret going either way. I have a tuff stuff tent and an rsi smart cap. The foldout tents have much more bed space, but it also takes longer to set up than the flip up.

It looks like the 23Zero Armadillo X2 is a hard shell that fits over a short bed.

Does anyone have any experience with that model?

Its really nice high quality. Very dark inside when all closed up and the mattress seems comfortable. I installed after work and still need to put handles and the second ladder mounts one but I ran out of time. I will get more pics and better info one I have a chance to test. I do love the extra cover for protection when not using.
Pic of my build fueling up this morning on way to work.

I think you'll like it. I popped it open after work yesterday to test fit what i could store in it but was a little bummed I couldn't fit two summer sleeping bags without a slight bow to the lid that would keep from a weatherproof seal.
I wanted the SEi but went black so I didn't stick out at the mall when camping. ;)

Has anyone had any issues with their iKamper (mounted above the bed/behind the cab) while exceeding the suggested maximum speed (70mph)? Going on a road trip soon that will have speed limits of 70-80mph.

I don't have an ikamper, but have probably hit like 90 with my tent near cab height

iKamper says not to exceed that speed? Sounds like something their lawyers made them include to cover their liability of someone going too fast in windy conditions.
