That doesn’t make sense. They use a clamp system. How thick are your cross bars?

Looking for some help since Roofnest Customer service is nonexistent.. My Girlfriend bought a brand new Condor Overland 2 XL with all the extra's (~$5k worth), But it leaks when its just sitting on her truck.. Roofnest thinks this is a condensation issue, I laugh at there diagnosis!! I have a nice Video or two but can't figure out how to upload it.. We took the mattress out and took these pics, the last one you can see the pool of rain water in the aluminum hard case on the inside corner (Hinge side).. been used twice, she took it on a road trip to AZ from OR and it was wet and frozen, she couldn't even open it cause it was frozen shut.. SO, outside of this obviously not being a condensation issue, anyone had this happen or have a fix? We have no idea where the water is coming from.. And she is super pissed for spending the $$$$ and being told there is no return option available.. Thanks guys/gals

@50Buck went through hell with an RTT manufacturer trying to get them to honor their warranty. I can’t recall if it was roofnest or ikamper. Maybe he can share some tricks to get some service.

Roofnest. They're scumbag resellers of Chinese trash. I had to threaten scorched earth on every social media and public review to get them to refund for a tent that showed up new with holes worn in it.

They push real hard that they're an American company based out of Colorado, but the have no facility there. I offered to return the tent there, that's how I found out they do all the shipping/return stuff through a rented warehouse space in California.

    Total sham business.

IKamper is totally legit and way higher quality materials.

Well that doesn't sound good!! Thanks for the heads up, She is already trying to sell it for a loss but if the $3 tube of silicone that they recommended will fix the $5000 she just spent, she might keep it? who knows.. But she is pissed!! oh, and her next thing was to do the same thing and hit every social media, but we haven't gone there yet..

Damn that’s a lot of water… I wanna see how it’s intruding in. Probably a seam or gasket is misplaced

See what card she used and if they offer any consumer protection. I always use a credit card and companies DO NOT like when you threaten a charge back. Amazing how fast their tune changes when you tell them that's your next step.

Hey guys, new to this thread and only read the last few pages but it looks like I'll be steering clear of Roofnest... hope you get everything sorted out about that leak.

Aside from that I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for my first RTT?

I mainly just do single night camps with maybe a few 2-3 day camps few and far between.

A little information about my preferences:

-It's just going to be me solo camping
-Would prefer a hardshell clamshell or wedge style tent that is easy to setup and take down
-I live in mostly a desert climate, so snow and rain considerations aren't super relevant although that isn't to say that I won't travel, but most of the camping will be done in AZ deserts maybe some CA forest.
-No real budget, been eyeing the Skycamp 3.0 mini but recently have been made aware of certain Chinese brands like Topoak and Naturenest being pretty decent, especially for the price

    Thanks in advance.

IKamper Skycamp Mini would be my recommendation. Buy once, cry once. It has been stellar for me.

How's the mattress in the Skycamp Mini 3.0? I've heard some complaints about it but nothing too serious

Seems like you're on a good path as far as what to look for and what to stear clear of.
Pick a style of tent you're interested and what an acceptable weight would be.

I have a tepui kukeman but am interested in swapping to a wedge style or the ikamper mini. The ikamper mini is very appealing

I'm fat and a side sleeper, but I also move a bit in my sleep. I roll out my sleeping bag like a pad and just cover up with my Rumpl. That's been good down to 38° F so far, but because I use the sleeping bag like that I'm not sure I can offer a valid comment on it.

I only slept in my bag one night, but I had a raging fever so I was oblivious to everything anyway.

Recommend the ikamper mini air mattress. 4” when expanded. Buy a separate air pump that can suck air out. Will collapse to 1/2”. More room for bags.

I got a smart cap, would I have any issues mounting the RTT with just 2 load bars or do you recommend 3?

I'm about 200lbs, if that matters.
