Looks like I'll be a member of the cool kids club next week, should get my Tepui in by the end of the week. Wish there was more options of bed racks that mount to the bed frame bolts. B.A.M.F seems to be the only one that is commercially available with out going custom built like NYCO's.

Can I use a the regular Tacoma roof rack? I've seen only one person that used it but I haven't heard anything good or bad, I've read thru most. Can anyone chime in? Thanks

You can use the OEM side rails but not the cross bars. The cross bars are rated at 80 or 90lbs, if you get yakima/Thule clamps to clamp on to the side rails with according cross bars, then yes.

Just a bunch of old crap
Pelfreybilt makes the best one I've seen so far. And he does aluminum racks now, so they're built like a brick shithouse but light enough to lift with one hand. Options for rotopax mounts and all sorts of upgrades.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I've looked at the ones that mount to the bed rails and they just seem like, with the plastic bed, wouldn't be strong enough and I think I've read on here where some have had problems with the bed side spreading apart.

That is if you don't have big enough "feet" on the bars that attatch to the the bed rails. With all these racks the "feet" are the entire length of the bed, therefor spreading the weight out over the entire rail, rather than "feet" that are just a few inches long putting all the weight on that spot in the bed.

You will be perfectly fine putting ANY RTT on one of the above mentioned bed racks, its the home-made bed racks that people haven't designed very well that make the bedsides crack.

If you are worried with bed sides cracking then don't go with any bedrack at all because they all mount the same way.

Plus you have a first gen tacoma so you don't even have a plastic bed, you have a metal one.

I have looked at y'alls bed racks, they do look nice and if I can convince myself that the bed rails/tracks are strong enough, you are on the short list of the ones to get. Of course when I go to your site I usually can't get past looking at y'alls front bumpers.:D

Yeah sorry about that. I need to change that. I just sold my 01 and got a 2015. Had my 01 for 14 years and it was hard to get rid of it.

Oh okay, but still you will have no problems. I know many people that have bed racks with RTT's with zero problems. One of my friends on here keeps his tent and bed rack on his truck full time (Im sure others too) and commutes in it, been on for a year and a half now with no troubles. Im sure people on here can back me up in saying you will not have any troubles with bed side cracks if you go with a quality bed rack (ie All Pro, Pelfreybilt, SOS concepts and many more companies).

OR have one custom fabbed that mounts to your bed rings and not your bed rails. Like this, this is JEVERICH's (I think thats how you spell his username):
