So at 7 degrees the buddy heater kept me warm. Turned it off around midnight and woke up at 6 with ice on my sleeping bag. Turned it back on to get toasty and dry out the tent. It definitely does it's job! d73c7118c579346b5afbf8336086489f_3d4134090cabf8698358d90ac90ef6adc73aa1fc.jpgd2698be872bbf296cadf55bc699903b2_559d8ad1a970fb745f5f619e339e40be59c01c52.jpg

First time out the my rtt this weekend, love it!! 28 degrees when I woke up. Used the same little mr buddy heater ^^^ and love it! Got it so warm and dried out the inside of the tent, wish I could have kept it running when I was sleeping

    82F42214-87D4-41CE-9D99-EC3CBA1C216A_ccc5e561340389cf20ec646b5ba242898875798a.jpg

When other people camp in snow, do you wake up with condensation on the inside of the tent? Just the walls and ceiling. My mattress and sleeping bag were dry but the walls of the tent were pretty wet. Anything I can do to prevent it?

Ventilation helps reduce condensation but when it's below freezing that's out of the question. The fabric on our tents doesn't really "breathe" so we're really just kind of stuck with the condensation.

Thats what I thought but didn't know if people had some kind of trick they do. It was an awesome time no matter, that was the only downfall (which I had kinda figured it would happen anyway).

I keep both side windows unzipped about 1/4 for ventilation and have had minor condensation issues. I keep a towel in the truck and wipe down the interior of the tent to minimize the moisture thats left in there. No heater, that will only make the condensation worse. Ive been out in single digits with minor issues

I turned the heater on in the morning and it dried it out a lot, but I did wipe it all down with a towel.

coldest I did was 27*. I just used an electric blanket and was perfectly fine.
I don't have any condensation issues but like Lisa said I left a bit open for circulation. Also, I was solo in a Mt. Hood which is a larger tent than the Bachelor or Shasta. Might have something to do with it.:notsure:

That looks really peaceful....Crackling of the fire, the smell of pine trees, and the brisk mountain air. Nice photos! I hope to be able to do something like that in the future.

Best spot I have ever found, About 60 miles away from Albuquerque and this time we saw only 2 snow mobilers the entire time. generally in the summer we have a few neighbors about half a mile away but amazing spot that I stumbled upon. A set of hotsprings are just below that you can go get in and stay about 105 year round

Sounds like a nice place to go for sure. It's hard to prevent these "secret sports" from gaining popularity and turning into a zoo. I'm glad you've found a nice retreat to enjoy.

I used a warm weekend in March 2022 to finally install my brand new from old stock 2000 4Runner driver's seat. $800 directly from the factory in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.
Did you or what did you strap it to the center support with? velcro strap? I"m really thinking of getting one of these to eliminate that morning torture of getting into frozen clothes & shoes. Because of how it's angled, does it get untouchably hot at or above the focal point on the interior of the tent? Do the permanently open ventilation points above the windows near the centre of the tent don't do a good enough job of preventing condensation? Does anyone recommend getting the 1# bottle refill adapter for a 20# tank or is that just an explosion waiting to happen?

So included with my tent were some Bungee cords and this is what I used to hold the heater firmly against the side. I am sure there are 1000 different ways to support this little guy. The part that gets the hottest is the red ring around the focal area. I was not aware of how much condensation came from propane but I caught on and opened the top part of the zipper window and the bottom areas where the tent folds in half. I am going to rig up a way to use the 20lb tank sitting on the tailgate and run the adaptor cable in through the folding slit. Hope this helps and I will try to rig up something tonight with the 20lb tank.
