Just had another, more simple idea. My buddy has some angle iron and can weld a little. We might see what we can come up with on Sunday.

Dont think you need angle iron. Just flat stock to get done what they were talking about.

Although you could weld them together with angle iron giving a longer foot on the bed rail.

In the pic, I painted on some yellow where I'd place the angle iron. I think it'll stiffen up and reinforce the upper part of the bracket, and rest the weight on the bedside, and hten the bedrails will just be used to slide it around and lock it into place.

The bed rail cap isn't exactly the strongest thing. If you want to add some stability, carry the bar down to the bed of the truck.

That will probably work but you really need to make it much larger than what you have drawn. Make it go all the way out to the outside edge of the bedside. I would also try to make that flat part a minimum of 4" long.

Want to see if they'll take what you're asking, its easy. Take a sheet of plywood, throw it across the bars (3/4-1" preferred for strength) . Grab 3 people and have them get on top of the plywood. Have them give a couple jumps, grab a straight edge, put it against the bars and see if they are straight both with people on the plywood, and without. If the bars sag an 1/8 of an inch you're at about your limit, 1/4 inch i would be real concerned.

Me and my buddy made some super mega jumbo #1 bed rails to mount the tent to.

Gotta finish drilling the other one. The battery died on the drill. I'll shoot them with some rattle can bed liner when they're finished up. What is the span of the bolts that mount the Tepui tents?

Sorry, I meant in between the bolts? These bars are nearly 3 inches wide and I want to make sure I have room for the bolts to clear.

You shouldn't have an issue. And if you do, ladder extensions are available. I'm on 33's, dakars, aal, and 2" shackles, with the tent above my cab and I don't need an extension.

    crap bolted and welded together....

you "should" be ok. This was my old rack setup and the height was perfect. Didnt need the extension, and the ladder was just fine.

I have Dakar leafs with the tent cross bars 4 inches above my canopy, then another inch higher than that on top of the cross bars, you'll be fine. Im 6'2 and fit perfectly with room at my feet for my 70lb lab no problem.

hey guys. Here is a pic of my rig. I have the cvt mt shasta. Older model before they went to the thicker frame.

I have a question for you guys. I still get condensation even with the mat inside. And I live in a colder part of az up in the white mountains where we get snow and such. I get condensation under the cover aswell. Do you guys have a trick to prevent it? I find myself needing to open it every other day or so to dry out. I took it off for a couple weeks. But I usually am out camping every 2-3 weeks or so even thru the winter so its more of a pain in the ass to take it off and put it back on by myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks gents

Have you tried keeping the windows open a bit for more ventilation?
