This is the reason I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. You guys give a damn while too many others burn the customer and refuse to address issues.

Ill try and get a pic when I get back into town, but the rubber bumps push the latches on the rung above so the whole thing collapses in itself. When one is missing, it only depresses one of the latches and gets hung up. Little tiny Phillips screws hold the bump onto the rung and for whatever reason, the bump kept falling off. If nobody else has had this problem, maybe write that one off to me having a clumsy right foot? Dunno. But my makeshift washer is holding up great and now that everything else is tight I should be good to go for a while!

Are the New buckles metal or plastic? I still need to replace my ladder strap and plan on using metal ones.

How much does the tent affect your gas mileage? That's a Gobi rack right? How tall is the tent + rack?

Hello- New to this forum and doing some research on mounting my RTT. Wondering if anyone uses the Thule Xsporter 500 XT adjustable system. I have the Tepui Ayer (95 lbs) so not too worried about weight but wondering how flush the tent would sit in comparison to the roof of the truck at the lowest level. Trying to minimize wind drag but still have the option to raise the tent up for cargo space. I've seen some more advanced custom jobs that may be a bit out of my fabrication wheelhouse. Wondering if anyone has this system and can provide some feedback on the functionality. Thanks in advance for the help.

We are going to put one of those on our superduty to put the tent on for summer trips with the boat, I've heard you have to cut the front ones because they come down and hit the wheel well in short beds. I have heard they are really sturdy even though they don't really look like it IMO

The mileage is hit more by the weight of the bumpers, sliders, skids, 34" tires, and yes the GOBI rack. Right now I would guess I am averaging about 15-16 miles per gallon. Don't have a height measurement now but could get one later, but I will tell you I cannot fit in a standard height garage with the tent on.

Your photo of your truck reminds me where mine started.

Yeah I figured the bumpers would kill your gas mileage. I'm getting 20-23 mpg right now so I'm hoping the tent doesn't kill that.
I've been researching every rack option available for Runners. With the factory rack I'm about 1" shy of fitting in my garage - that's with taking the ladder off too. Gaah! I assume by "standard door" you mean a 7' door? That's what I've got too. So frustrating.

That doesn't say the sleeping size or the size of the tent in general.

Think an rtt is a buy once, cry once deal. Tepui/CVT have great reviews, while most smittybilt stuff isnt just from what ive noticed

Spent the day off building a bed rack and now I'm official. Now it just has to get a touch warmer and I'm gonna try it out. It's a cvt mt. Shasta I got used and there is way more room inside than I expected lol

When I see the words 4 wheel parts or smittybuilt I wanna slap someone. They're an overblown Pep Boys\ auto zone. You may find crap cheaper there, but there's a damn good reason its cheaper and that's not going to end well for you. My dad and grandpa swore by 4 w p because they were customers back when it was a single shop full of badass gearheads down in paramount. The gearheads could help you build a rig worthy of king of the hammers because they loved doing it. They then sold out to corporate and now run everything the harbor freight method of selling cheap chinamade stuff whenever possible.
Between low quality stuff and the enraging experiences I had with them,
Just stay the hell away from those two names and you'll have an easy life. I can't imagine what kinda bs they'd put you through when trying to ship back a 100 lb RTT that fell apart.
