Historically Mountain Hardwear has donated, supported and paid forward to many outdoor organizations to include recently Access Fund-Jeep, major boating companies(Dagger, Perception, etc..), multiple food banks, Boys and Girl Scouts, and on and on and on...
Maybe you are referring to their conservation stance? Along with North Face, REI, Patagonia etc.. You will find they all support much the same idea of conservation and the maintaining of outdoor sports for human powered recreation as many of the outdoor companies.

I would be interested in any info you have that states they are in support of closing trails unless they are social hiking trails that are unmarked in an area that may be protected.

Put this together tonight to charge phones, run a fan, and lighting in the Kukenam we received last week. Just waiting to have my bed rack fabbed on Saturday. And our first night in it will be next week while wheeling.

That looks really cool and useful! Excuse my ignorance, but what is is... Is it a self contained unit or does it connect to your battery???

My plan is to wire this into the truck battery. Don't want to lug around anymore batteries and not have a way to charge them.

Selling the topper, too tall for my liking and wheeling. Should be sold tonight.

I have debated the same thing. I just can't stand to lose the security and protection from the weather. Having the RTT on top of the shell isn't too bad for the type of exploring I do but you definitely feel it on side slopes and off camber situations.

Downhill, off camber is my most uncomfortable obstacle. A tent that high over the rear end just wasn't an option, along with the extra drag on the highway.

Understand on the dry, secure storage as well. The wife and I debated on that aspect for several months. Almost all of our gear is in Pelican or foot lockers so the extra work to yank something through the bed rack will be our "security".

Are you going to a Lp rack or just slightly lower than the roof line?

Seen some second gens with RTT under bestop. Might be an option. I think that is really best of both.

It'll be high enough to have the tent level with the cab roof.
I've seen that before and IMO it's the worst option of the 3. Not secure or dry and there's hardly any room for gear below the tent rack.

Before I had my shell, we used to travel around with the bed loaded up with totes. They were impossible to get out from the sides due to the bedrack, but I didn't have a locking tailgate. Soooo..... I would always park with the rear of the truck facing some some type of immovable object (concrete wall, rock, fence, tree, etc.) while the truck was unattended. Never had anyone try to get into the bed that way.

I should have about 27" of bed space below the rack. More than enough to fit the Indel B and any gear boxes. Not sure on the annex though.

I have built 1 and am in the process of building a second now but they aren't really bolt together. Basically a standard bedrack similar to others that are out there but with the ability to add in extrusion slats on the upper and lower platforms.

My limitation with developing a good lightweight modular bedrack is my lack of skills and equipment in welding aluminum. Steel I can do on occasion an I could come up with some ideas for an aluminum one but there is no way I could produce it unless I quit my day job, bought some better equipment, and learned the aluminum welding world.
