Anyone have any thoughts on the Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized vs the original version or even the CVT Mt Bachelor? Are the heavier fabric and frame materials worth the $400 upgrade??

I have a hard time not buying the best version of whatever's out there haha... it's a disease.

If they hard an annex set up for it and it wasn't so much more expensive I would.

I just haven't seen an instance where so many of the regular models are getting beat up.

they do have an annex for it... for another cool $250  i don't plan on needing/using an annex though...

i just have a hard time buying the regular version knowing there's an HD version available.

How sturdy are the regular versions? Hold up to 60mph winds sturdy?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Definitely post up with your findings when you get the new tent to compare -- I am very interested to hear, as I'm sure are others.

Might have to go over to Tepui and see what the ruggedized version is all about. Then have lunch at the brewery next door :D

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.

X2. With the amount we plan to use ours I'm beginning to think this is one of the better investments to make, but until we commit I'll keep searching the threads and checking out the reviews.

Just a bunch of old crap
That Ruggedized version is sweet, and I really contemplated getting it instead. I just couldn't justify the significant cost difference, especially when I got a lightly used regular Kukenam and a used ARB awning for $700 cash and carry.

I'm also not keen on the orange, because I like a darker tent fabric when I want to go to sleep. I would think the orange would catch more ambient light and make it brighter in the tent when you didn't want it to be. I like to be more low-key when I camp, but I am jelly of the reinforced diamond plate bottoms and the padded sleeves and stronger hinges/poles.

Yeah I couldn't pass it up and had the cash on hand to pull the trigger. That orange sure does let everyone know "yeah, I have the baddest-ass version of this tent" which is a perk :)

Random question for you all with a RTT and a camper shell. Have you had any issues off roading with the shell? Top heavy more so then if it was lower? Shell damage? ETC
