So got this Tepui Kukanam from a friend who totaled his truck in a rollover...

Talked to Tepui's shop directly, I can get two new bases at $85 each shipped to me next week. Griffin (the guy I spoke to at Tepui) is actually headed to China through the 3rd, and is going to see if he can get some ruggedized bases shipped for me, he said those would probably run $100 per base and would take at least 3 weeks to get to him.

so I'm trying decide what I want to do. The bases took some damage in the roll over but if you look at the truck, they held up pretty damn well IMO (it was torn off probably in the first roll, so that probably helped) but wondering if it's worth the extra $40 for the ruggedized bases, I don't have a rack yet so the extra month or so waiting isn't a big deal. Are the ruggedized bases worth it? or would just adding some thin aluminum, or diamond plate myself be stronger?

over all, I am very impressed how well this tent held up in the roll over!

    cool.

yeah honestly the PrInSu rack was trashed, but it did a good job of spreading the impact and helping keep the cab structure off the occupant. I've seen some bad pics of Tacoma cabs that collapsed in rollovers... and this was bad, probably hit his top 3-5 times going down the hill...

Get the ruggedized bases its worth it if you don't mind the extra weight.

The difference in ruggedized/non-ruggedized is about 40lbs IIRC.. So thats the thicker material, bases and some other small things. Adam would know

I always wondered why the RTT manufactures don't make the annex or changing room out of a lighter more packable material? Don't get me wrong I love the heavy canvas for the tent, but for ease of packing, and putting up I would like to see it made of a more traditional dome tent type material. Just the annex I mean.

The standard Tepui Autana Sky as well as the Gran Sabana is exactly that way. The material is not as lightweight as a traditional dome tent (meaning it's more durable) but it's much easier to pack. The Ruggedized annexes use the heavier weight canvas to match the canvas on the Ruggedized tent.

    Too many to list now.
All CVT tents use the same fabric throughout, just for durability. I throw my whole Mckinley annex into a 90 liter dry bag and it sits in the roof basket out of the way. Works great. I don't mind the extra weight though, some may.

I'd look into new hinges and I'd check the cover for any holes.

Finally got a chance to test Racor Lift. I have to say, The Kukenam Ruggedized is very heavy. Without this lift, I don't think my wife will able to help out. The diamond plate is very solid.

It does help a lot. I'm still contemplating about storing it on the lift. Yes, it is very sturdy with 20 lag screws. It is suppose to support max weight of 250 and the RTT is about 180, but I'm still unsure. One the for sure is to assist the load on and off. The other use may be to store all my overland gears and it will definitely be less than 180lbs. Is anyone on forum uses this lift (Racor Heavy Duty Lift) to store their RTT, if so, how is it holding?

Mounted my CVT 79" awning. Once I get my plate bumper I will relocated the antenna so I can move it back a bit.
