I like tepui because of the blue  and because Adam has awesome customer service. Ordered my tent and a week later it pops up. Could've been earlier I think but I was 4th of July weekend

Excellent resources here. I have to say ONE thing, that is, RTT is not for everyone. We enjoyed the great outdoor a lot and also switched from ground tent to RTT recently. We loved. We have few friends whom we camp together, but they keep on saying that's not camping. My response to them was, it is a lifestyle. Regardless which brand you choose, it will definitely change the way you look at camping.

Anyone have trouble with the zippers on their CVT tents?

The zipper that connects my annex to the bottom of my Mt Shasta broke last fall. Went to hook it up and the pull was no where to be found. Bobby sent me a little universal zipper pull kit but none of them fit very well and the only one that was close barely closes the zipper. It leaves little sections unzipped and a hard wind pull on the fabric and unzips it all the way. Disappointed in the size zipper they used. The zippers on the doors are twice as big as those on the annex which actually has to bare weight.

I went back 5 pages trying to find any thing on this but couldn't. Anyone have this issue or know of a solution? Right now I am without an annex because of it.

Also, what is the trick to keep the tent from getting stuck on the cover zipper? I have done it twice now and once it goes in it seems impossible to get out. Broke the first zipper and now this second replacement one is stuck partially zipped.

For the annex, I would let Bobby know it still doesn't work right. Then, try a local auto upholstery shop.

I've caught the tent once in the zipper, and it sucked to get out. Now I I tuck and zip, tuck and zip. No more problems.

I do. ;) Anyone that has actually called and chatted with me knows that even though I sell Tepui, I recognize the good things about other brands as well and I don't mind answering questions about any of them since I've used several different types. There are so many different brands of RTT's out there now that share a lot of similar designs, but it doesn't mean they are all the same. One thing I can say is that from my experience when it comes to RTTs, you get what you pay for most of the time. There's a reason the cheap tents are cheap.

And as far as the diamond plate on a Tepui Ruggedized being excessive.....once you start using RTTs you'll quickly understand why that's such a nice feature.

I'm late to this whole discussion because I've been out using my new Autana Ruggedized. Just did 4 days solo in some awesome backcountry travel that started at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, then to Lake Powell, then through Capital Reef and finally through the San Rafael Swell. Several hundred miles in the dirt (and mud). But it was a great trip.

I'm happy to answer questions at any time from anyone. Shoot me a PM or feel free to call if you rather chat on the phone. 8017108110.

Maiden voyage with the tepui took us to Big Sur. Hell of a camp spot and the tent worked out great!

Anyone doing anything to get a bit more padding under or on top of the mattress?

How is the padding in CVT tents? Do I need much else besides a sleeping bag?

We slide self inflating pads under the bed and use a down bed topper on top.

x2, minus the down topper. I'm a side sleeper so the extra thickness really helps out.

Looking closer at the Adventure Sole tents, I can't confirm this yet until I see one first hand but it looks like from their photos that the tent material is actually similar (maybe the same) as what SmittyBuilt is using on their $800 tent which is actually poly-oxford and not canvas. This has been confirmed on the Smittybuilt tent. It's essentially the same material that gets used on the rainfly which is much lighter and not nearly as durable as the canvas. If that is the case, it would explain the much cheaper prices as the poly-oxford material is about 1/3 the cost of quality canvas. It would be good the verify this with Adventure Sole since it is not clear on their site. Their specs say rip-stop fabric but the photos look like poly-oxford and not like the canvas used on Tepui or CVT and other brands.

What bed bars are you using? Relentless? AllPro? Yeah the 1.75" or 2" round tube racks are bigger than what the supplied hardware will work with. Good thing it's easy to pick up a few longer stainless bolts. ;)

What is this "if you get" you speak of? It should be "when I get" :D
