Does anyone else have an issue with the mattress material getting pinched in the floor when the tent is open?

I was thinking of using a piece of plastic, bolted/screwed down on one side. A sort of flap that would bridge the gap and keep the material out of the seam.

I haven't had this happen to me but is the mattress becoming undone from the Velcro on each corner of the floor? if that's not the issue try flipping the mattress over.

The condensation mat is expensive, but that's a route I'm looking into.

The Velcro seems to be holding the ends of the mattress fine, but when you unfold the tent some of the mattress material bunches and gets caught in the seam.

Thanks, maybe it's a non-issue...I can't seem to find anything with Google.

Mine does that and i found folding the matttess over before closing the tent up stops this from happening. I know @MTgirl does the same thing. You will just need to hop up and flip the mattress open manually when you set up.

Can get a Prinsu rack cheaper? I think they start around $475
-You can use Yakima clamps/cross bars, @Greddy does and has worked great so far.
-Another option is using the factor roof rack bars that parallel the truck, but then use yakima or Thule clamps/cross bars on them. Ill look for the picture im thinking of

I was going to say im 99% sure you don't drill into the roof for a prinsu... I'd be shocked if you do

Hey clan. I've been pondering the question lately, so it's over due, but I'd eventually like to buy a RTT and am going to buy a truck cap in the near future. So I'm wondering which shell should I buy that could support an eventual RTT purchase? I've been looking at a Snugtop Rebel, but would that adequately support the weight?

Most caps you'll be just fine with. Helps to have the reinforced roof but not needed. Which RTT are you looking at?

I've heard that it isn't a killer to not have the reinforcement, so I'm glad to hear verification. Oh I haven't even begun to research RTTs haha. Most likely something light and not overly large if you have any recomendations. Tepui and CVT are the main brands I've noticed, so perhaps one of them. My main concern is having a cap that could support one later on, don't want to buy twice. Thanks!

I know @PepsiManKolt has a CVT Rainier (I think) on top of his canopy with 4 cross bars (helps distribute the weight more evenly) and hasn't had problems. @velillen has a CVT Shasta on his Leer with 2 cross bars without problems. I have the Tepui Autana ruggedized on my snugtop but I also have the reinforced roof. The snugtop should handle it just fine

Yup i have it on my Leer (100XR? or something i can never remember the model). Just have two Thule bars on it and havent had any problems so far.

Just have to remember static weight is a lot different than dynamic weight. ~100 pounds while driving and bouncing around will be fine. 400 pounds on the other hand could do damage. But when parked and not moving....that 400 pounds is just fine

Our weekend campsite on Medano Pass heading into Great Sand Dunes National Park. If you don't own a RTT yet, just do it and I promise you won't regret it.

My XV is rated IIRC for 200 lbs of weight, I don't think the Rebel is any higher. If you're buying a new shell, I'd probably get a reinforced roof model. JMHO.. I'd hate to blow $2k on a new shell and damage the structure.
