Why don't you just put it on your tailgate so your rear view isn't blocked?

I think having the swing out now will cause less tailgate scratching in this pic the white specks are from the trasharoo I think some cans were rubbing it on the trail

I've been thinking now with the bumpers it doesn't look like a pos cause my oem bumpers were all dented that I should get it polished or something. We'll see what the wife will let me spend lol kinda blew up the budget on the truck this year

Any time you have something up against a painted surface, it's gotta be clean. It's also important to keep the sharp or heavy objects out of the thing so it doesn't dent the gate.

I'm surprised nobody has said plastic-dip yet....This is an application that seems like it would actually be a good use for the stuff. Just put a big square of it right where the Trasharoo would sit?

I don't leave my trasheroo on 24/7 so I wouldn't want to do that every time I wanted to use it. I really don't mind the rubbing from the trasheroo anyways but maybe it's cause it doesn't show up much on the super white. Plus I beat my truck anyways

My truck looks better from miles away when you can't see all the horrible scratches I've made in it.

Black truck + pine trees and bushes = soo much pinstripes.

The best and worst part of trails here in BC there's so many and the only maintenance is thru regular use if a trail doesn't get used it's hella over grown in no time

Silver hides the scratches well, mine looks horrible real close, but like 5-10 feet or farther looks good

I love being able to plow through overgrown trails without worrying about it scratching my paint. Pretty much immune to pinstriping, and i don't have to wax it!

Well as far as lighter materials go that are still strong, the main one I think of is carbon fiber.. Which isn't cheap.. So what other materials are out there that are strong/light/cheap?

From what I know, it's sort of a 'have your cake and eat it too' situation. You can get fabrics that are stronger lighter, but you'd probably price most folks out of these tents.Bear in mind this is just my opinion not necessarily that of CVT but I think that it is in fact a good idea, it'd just be really difficult to manufacture something like that AND have it come out at a reasonable cost. I mean shoot, why not make the whole thing out of Goretex XCR, the weatherproofing is there, breathable, lightweight, comes in a variety of colors, and is wicked strong. I think the answer is cost. If my goretex Burton Jacket was 650 bucks I can only imagine what it would cost to make my Mt. Mckinley! No doubt it would be amazing though.

You also have to bear in mind that not everyone is using these for wheeling, I have put more than a few tents on much more 'pedestrian' vehicles.
