That tent will be sticking a mile high in the air at all times if you want to fit a bike underneath it, not to mention the space to be able to comfortably hold the bike up underneath there while you strap it in. It could be done, but the feasability in it is lacking greatly. The other option would be a rack that moves up and down, but again not really convenient or feasible without a lot of work.

Personally i suggest you look into a hitch mounted carrier for the bike and leave the rtt mounted lower. You dont have to worry about a trailer and i would assume you arent going offroad anyways loaded with a sport bike so its not like a hitch mounted carrier is going to be an issue with clearances. Plus the carriers are easy to put on/off that it is still convenient.

I agree it'd probably be a mile high which is not good. I want to plan for not just one but two bikes in the bed. I could loosen the triple up and slide the forks down and remove the windscreen... But I'm not sure it's going to help too terribly much. I'm just curious if anyone else has tried.

Adjustable isn't THAT horrible of an idea.. It's at least worth looking into.

It was pretty crazy. I couldn't believe it lifted over the driver's side and into traffic. I saw the movement in the mirror out of the corner of my eye and immediately regretted not bolting it down.

I am not a smart man

Adjustables still arent that convenient. @Blackdawg can vouch for it being a pain, granted some design differences could probably help.

Honestly i think a trailer is going to be your most convenient option for hauling more than 1 bike without loading/unloading. But good luck with whatever you try to do.

haha, at least you got out with minimal damage. I swear when I first mounted mine I spent more time looking in the rear view mirror than at the road in front of me. I was just waiting to see it go flying off.

I think I would try to find a way to drop the tailgate and build/install a tire mount and then add some d-rings or strap it to the bedrack and find a way to lock it. It would keep gear from sliding out of the bed and could be removed at the destination.

I came across this picture via google search trying to figure out how i would mount my kayaks and RTT at the same time. Idk if a 12 and 10' would fit the same way you have yours set up though lol.

I'm new to the club, finally. Picked up the tent in Santa Cruz and went straight to Sunrise State Beach.

Thanks to BoxRocket for helping me out.

The XL is a long tent, but it sits well on the DCSB. Only hangs off the end 3-4" and doesn't touch the gps/satellite receiver.

I have a the CVT mt hood mounted in a similar fashion. My last couple trips I had it set with the front even with the cab and overhanging the back of the cap. Interestingly enough it felt much more stable this way at highway speeds...
I've got a fairing on the cab as a wind deflector though.

The fairing would be clutch. I can hear a little extra wind noise but we'll see how much my gas mileage is affected.
