theres nothing difficult about it. leds are the easiest type of electrical mod. either it works or it doesn't. if it doesn't work you got the wires reversed. red is hot and black is ground. if you can hook up a set of jumper cables you'll be able to figure it out.

Just stating. I have a Honda Generator for when my RTT comes in. Guess you could bring an extra set of keys to lock the door while you have the ignition on ACC like you said.

you're more likely to kill the battery doing that.. more things will be on than just the 12v outlet. you'd have to remember to turn off the radio, a/c blower, headlights, and theres probably a few systems that would still be on.

this ^ or just install a few more 12v outlets.

run a wire from the battery (with an inline fuse) to a couple of these in the cab and you'll have some always on outlets. http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Syst...TF8&qid=1393509444&sr=8-2&keywords=12v+outlet

or if you're afraid of doing that, you can get one of these and just clip it to the battery when you need it. http://www.amazon.com/Roadpro-Batte...F8&qid=1393509536&sr=8-13&keywords=12v+outlet

and then one of these to reach the tent http://www.amazon.com/RoadPro-RP-20...393509577&sr=8-1&keywords=12v+extension+cable

Or just pickup a couple of battery operated LEDs from Harbor Freight. That's what I did. Leave them in the tent.

Yeah, you guys are making this more work that it is.

See the black and red wires Cham? All you are doing is extending them and attaching them directly to your battery. The plug is there to easily take off the RTT without pulling the wires. The switch is to kill the power when its packed up. Put an inline fuse on it and your done.

Just a bunch of old crap
    http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-2000001475-LED-String-Lights/dp/B001TSCDBQ

These little lights are absolutely perfect for RTTs and also for hanging under ez-ups. They run on 3 AAA batteries for weeks. I'm still on the same set of the first AAA's and I'm going on season 3 with these things. $17.99 shipped (if you have a Prime account). I now have a set for my RTT and another for under the awning. They put out enough light that we use them under our ez-up for a full poker game.
