Just looked at CVT's website, I thought I remembered the summit series mt Shasta extended being closer to $2k (might be confusing with tepui's ruggedized autana), but it's sitting at $2400... The non summit series version is $1600... Anyone have a reason to justify spending an extra $800? It's got a different ladder, thicker material, and USB ports/lights/and a shoe net...? Am I missing where the $800 comes from? Guessing the big Summit series decal costs a couple hundred to slap on, eh? :canada:

It also has a much sturdier/better insulated base, interior poles are wrapped to help prevent condensation, a nice thick anti-condensation mat and a waterproof mattress.

Supposedly the 380g material is much nicer.

It is much heavier than the regular canvas. We had a regular Mt Shasta before getting the summit series and it's quite the difference in material.

This is why I added a 2" foam queen mattress topper to my RTT's existing pad. 4" of total non-memory foam (closed cell) and it all folds up perfectly. The cover actually fits as it should with no sag, and makes a nice box shape. The foam regains all of its loft in minutes after the tent is opened. $65 on Amazon and done. Side sleeping, belly sleeping, and the extra foam is awesome in cold weather for insulation underneath you.

Got an awning last week. It's too big to keep up all the time but it was too good of a deal to not get. So I'll undo 4 bolts every time I plan on driving on the highway

It is for storing gear, using as a dog/kids tent (or 2 more adults), and makes a great storm shelter. If it's hot out, the 3 outer walls have screens so you just unzip the outer wall and roll it up. The inner wall is a solid zippered door that allows access to your truck.

The awning and body set up so fast though. The awning unrolls and sets up (by myself) in less than 2 minutes. The awning body just clips to it after you slide the truck-facing wall top into the track on the awning and then zip the other side to the outer edge of the awning. Put some stakes into the 4 corners if it's windy, and done. Takes the same time to set up the awning and body than it does to open my RTT and put in the window rods.

EZ ups are convenient, but a pain in the ass by yourself. Sure it's easy with 2 people. The EZ up won't protect you from sideways wind and rain though.

I just personally feel like the awnings/overhangs take up a lot of valuable space. That's part of the reason I don't use mine.
