We typically have my wife or I in the Ranier (Standard) on the trailer, and my oldest daughter and the other one of us in the ARB on my truck. You could do 4 in the Ranier, but as the kids get older, it'd be tight. (We've got 3 kiddos) I suppose you could get creative with how people are laid out.

The biggest drawback of kids in the tent is the ladder. Any potty breaks in the middle of the night can be a bit of a drag.

I count myself as an "early adopter". Picked mine up when the showroom was nothing like it is today. One of the things that impressed me most about Tepui was the commitment to their product and the the quality of people representing it. Great to see the success Tepui has.

That's when I would just build a trailer and haul it.

Yeah, they work great, until they don't. I've had mine for less than a year and it just broke. The plastic handle they use is totally flimsy, I could tell right after I installed it too, it literally bends in your hand as you open the tailgate. There is a tiny plastic tab on the back of that handle that presses on a metal actuator, which in turn is connected to the rod that opens the tailgate. That plastic tab is ridiculously undersized for the amount of pressure and torque that is placed upon it when you press on it to open the tailgate. It fatigues and will eventually crack and break. It is actually incredible that a) they don't make this part out of metal and b) they make it so tiny and thin, it is almost fragile. I have a call in to pop n lock to replace this, but really they haven't done anything to improve the product, so it's likely to just snap again over time.

Hey guys. Weird question, But does anybody haul snowboards while their RTT is on? I'm trying to find a way to put two snowboards on my roof with my RTT on there. Thinking of trying to build a rack that mounts on the side of my FrontRunner rack. Similar to this:

    Something like this maybe?

oh okay, Isn't their a strap that runs all the way around the tent and secures itself and the tent down. Could you tie the board down with that ?

Good idea though. Thinking of possibly strapping them to the tent.

Sounds like you need the Tepui white lightening hard shell! Or you have discovered an undeveloped market! I bet a bar coming out from under the tent to mount something like the Thule mount for boards would work well.

What about just throwing them in the truck? You have plenty of room no?

Realistically, just two 1x1 box aluminum about 3ft long, give it an 8-10" overhang out the side of the tent, bolt it directly through the fiberglass or diamond plating like the mount rails, add the Thule mounts and VOILA! Mount de la snowboard. Just be cognizant that it will stick out beyond your vehicle width and must be on the side the tent DOES NOT open to.

That's my idea. It's likely worthless haha.

So I'm looking to purchase a roof top tent and also looking and researching for ways to mount the roof top tent. I currently have a Snugtop Xtra Vision shell on my DCSB. I would love to mount a rack on the shell and put the tent on the shell but I contacted Snugtop and they claimed that my model shell could only hold 200lbs and they only offer shells that can hold up to 500lbs. With the tent, myself, my wife, and our son we'd be damn close to 500lbs yet I see people with larger tents that can hold more gear and people without issue. Is it just that Snugtop isn't rated very high or do people really cut it close to the max load for the shell with the RTT? Any information would be helpful...
