    1. I use these to "level out my truck : https://www.amazon.com/Tri-Lynx-000...UTF8&qid=1473398612&sr=8-26&keywords=RV+level

    2. I wired a 12v socket in the bed, then when I pop the tent i connect an extension inside that the tent lights hook to and gives me a couple 12v sockets to charge stuff..

    4. Not sure about your tent, for the ARB it can be reconfigured to open rear, but the track bars need to be cut shorter.

    5. If they just come one length you may have to cut to fit.

All my tents have metal shavings in them, CVT, Tepui, ARB. Many of the "drilled" holes were drilled sloppy. And on my ARB i've had 2 bolts seize upon install. (Did it slowly with a regular ratchet too). So I wouldn't feel too bad about the QC of yours. Big brands aren't that much better. But as far as the ones I've had, the CVT & Tepui Zippers are better than my ARB. Smoother to use, ARB gets caught up and the entrance to the RTT is small compared to the others.

I have never been in an ARB but I have been in CVT & Tepui. I can tell that they are a little better made and r a step above the 23Zero I own. However, for what I need they r not worth the extra 20% - 30% in cost. I will say that if u r the type of person that wants the best or u need a tent that will be used a lot (20 - 30+ nights a year) then go for Tepui or CVT. If I find that we r using my tent more than expected I will upgrade to a Tepui. For now my 23Zero is perfect.

Simpson 3, on my second one too. Maybe they've been slacking at the factory lately? I was expecting more for what the ARB costs compared to others.

I just got a Mt. Bachelor Extended and that's the model with the rails you don't need to trim. The main platform is square and I flipped my rails to work on my rack, no cutting needed.

    Not enough...
Soo... before i start cutting rails and drilling etc.... is there a reason why I would NOT want to have the tent entrance and the ladder facing the back of the truck?

The objective is to have the back of the truck open and accessible from the annex for the dog, or another person to sleep in the bed, but this brings up another question - for this to work the back of the annex would have to remain open, leaving open space on the sides of the truck for the bugs to get in? It also looks like I won't be able to use Annex Channel, because I would always have to remove the cover, so the back window of my shell can be opened. I watched some videos on youtube and it seems that the annex is really big, big enough to fit a cot in there. Should I just leave the tent as-is?

I haven't mounted the tent yet, so I have not seen the size of the annex in person yet.

I thought so but didn't want to be wrong. So I can confirm that with my Mt. Bachelor I did NOT have to cut the rails to change their orientation.

Its definitely big enough to fit a cot in there... I have it dropping off the driver side so I never forget its open if for some reason I feel the urge to just drive my truck with the tent open it won't be broken cause Ill see it lol

I would leave the tent as-is. Being able to access the back of the truck easily is a huge plus IMO and definitely a priority for extra cover. I would think its a huge pain to have to remove and add the cover every trip to just access the back too. Just my opinion, best of luck!

Thanks! I am definitely leaning towards leaving it as-is, at least for the first trip and see how it goes

Definitely camp with it as-is at least a couple trips....and if it drives you bonkers, then change.

    Yes, that helps, thanks!

Still trying to decide which manufacturer to go with when the time comes, looking for something rugged possibly local. Damn college budget! lol.
