Thanks but a little surprised. I would have guessed that being made here that it would have given them a price advantage over the European ones . Not having to go thru the process/cost of ocean transport and well as avoiding import tariffs and all.

It comes down to cost of materials and cost of labor. Tepui would have all of their tents made here in the US if possible but the soft-side tents would be MUCH more expensive because the cost of labor is so much more here. So much so that its still cheaper after you include taxes and importation fees.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Here's a few shots of our new " Foxwing " awning...with the annex pieces it becomes quite the oasis of privacy, sunshade and beg free hangout. Without the annex pieces it's just a cool awning to gather under. Normally we'd have an RTT mounted as well but we're a week away from our next shipment. image.jpg image.jpgimage.jpg

Cool. There are a few different ones of these out there besides the "authentic" Foxwings. Most that I have seen have had issues with the hinges bending. Have you guys done anything to address that?

To be honest I'm not sure what the difference in mpg is, I just fill up the tank and drive it. I have the airtop small and it fits 2 average sized adults nice and comfy, not sure you'd want to try to sleep 3 ppl up there unless you absolutely had to.

I believe it weighs right around 125lbs.

Yes it overhangs by about 2 feet. It honestly doesn't look that bad since I have a swing out with full size spare mounted. I have not had any concerns sitting in the RTT on the unsupported section as the fiberglass shell is pretty damn beefy.

Can you post a side profile of your truck with the overhand and the swing out+full spare mounted? I was wondering if I would be able to do a swing out+full spare with my overhang. Thank you in advance!

Mounts for both the shovel and axe are Swagman bicycle clamps bought from etrailers.

    http://www.etrailer.com/accessories-and-parts/Swagman/64860.html

They do sell lockable handles for them but they are crap and don't work. So in the end, no they are not lockable.

Pretty much what I use too - the small levels fit perfect in the center console. I need to get some RV bubble levels and just screw them to the tent..,,

Sweet setup! Do you notice any stress on the back of the tent, especially when climbing in and out, since it extends so far past the back of the rack bar?

I hopped on the Tepui Kickstarter for their hard shell RTT and don't want to mess it up right out the gates! I want to keep the tent low since it'll ultimately have another set of racks on top with kayaks, rocket box, etc. so I'm getting a mid-height rack similar to yours which limits how far forward the tent can mount.

Thanks! I have not had any problems with the part that overhangs although I usually don't use the ladder nor climb in on that end. I usually just step up on my sliders and onto the bedside and then up in through one of the side doors. The base of the fiberglass shell is pretty beefy.

Prototype shown available for $699 ( cdn funds ) as is with holes drilled for various accesories. I can produce these at this price for the d.i.y. crowd ( meaning you do your own drilling and de-burring ) at his price, anytime. Bolt together assembly means shipping will be quite reasonable. We love aluminum for add-ons and resiliency to the elements...even unfinished.

Aside from offering this entire set-up at $799 ( cdn funds ) which means at that price point you are not going to get the original handcrafted " authentic " quality ... we replace the stock fasteners with longer ones allowing for " second lock-nut " to account for the severe vibration of overlanding and include larger fender washers in the process to provide more support in the hinge assembly. To avoid bending the hinges it's really not a good idea to drop the poles to the ground and stressing the assembly as you can imagine, it's a bit much for the set up to endure.

Will be in the market for a RTT soon. wanting a small one for just me, have done a lot of research, trying to find best deal to my door, or pick up within reasonable distance.
