To the people putting them on shells: do you guys have the reinforced toppers or just throwing them up on a standard one?

This is pretty much the method I used today when test fitting my Autana. It was pretty easy.

Has anyone mounted their rtt directly to the bed rack without using the rail system?

I am hoping I can just drill 6 new holes in the floor of the rtt and mint it to the 6 flat sections of my bed rack using grade 8 bolts. I have a CVT Mt. Rainer extended summit and the mounting rails are 3.5 inches off from my flat mounting bars.

    Pics of my rack... below!

Please let me know your thoughts as I plan on mounting it this weekend if the snow stops!!

Pretty sure the four vertical and three horizontal bed rack bars the tent would be sitting on would add more structural strength than elevating it on two aluminum rails above it all... then again I've never mounted or used an rtt before so please keep the opinions coming.

The rails can be installed ninety degrees pending tent rotation, so I don't know that I'd be worried about the rails structurally. I'm going to be installing via the rails if only for potential resale value...

I have my Mt. Denali mounted to my custom rack on the top of my enclosed trailer. Its been on there for 3+ years, and no problems at all. I mounted it without the rails because I need the lower clearance.

My rack has holes drilled that line up with the tracks at an even spread. It's a standard Mt. Shasta and I haven't had any problems, but it's probably due to the tracks being at about 1/3 and 2/3 of the base as they normally would

the floors have an INTERNAL FRAME. the holes are in specific spots because they go through a support beam in them. I replaced my bases due to a rollover and the way the floor was bent showed where the internal bracing was. The diamond plate is just a cover, to make the floors more durable, but I would seriously doubt if they made any difference structurally. Call CVT and ask they'll tell you no BS.

I talked with CVT they said mounting directly to the rack would be ok with my setup. Looks like the tent will be installed this weekend!!!!

    So exciting

The RTT is now supported by steel both laterally and longitudinally.

Just got my awning in today. I have an ALL-PRO style rack my friend and I built. How would I mount this awning to my rack?

Got my Tepui Ayer Sky to replace the Yakima skyrise and slept in it last night for a test drive. Hands down the quality difference between the Tepui vs Yakima is night and day. Tepui uses by far higher quality materials from the ladder to the fabric. Glad I returned my yakima and got the Tepui! Looking forward to more adventures....
