I had the same issue and I had to pull those straps( in my previous post) out of the way

So they are to roll up the cover?

Huh how did you do that ? It didn't look like mine were in the way I'm going to go out right now and take pics and try to fixit. I originally thought it was an issue with the anti condensation mat being bunched up

Fold it up and make sure nothing is getting pinched first. Remove the anti condensation mat and mattress if you need to. Second would be your hinge if the one side lines up and the other does not

Thank you buddy, I shot them an email and talked to REI. Waiting for a response from Tepui I know they have great customer service. After all of my investigating I think it is an issue with manufacturing but I want to give them the benefit of the doubt to make it right. Waiting on response and will update soon.

Re there two matching straps (without the D-rings on the other half of the base? I added similar straps to support the cover when I've deployed the tent. I can roll/fold the cover up so it doesn't drape down the side of the truck. Giving me access to the bed from under the tent - or lowering the cover to give SWMBO more privacy (my annex is only three walls)

It should compress the rest of the way when you get in it. My CVT does that too

Edit: or does it not line up whatsoever?

Mine does that too... I usually get under and press up by the joint as I push the base into the other... I do it on each side. sometimes it doesn't want to do anything, but most of the time it slides in nice and tight.

Question: I have a 1st gen double can. Recently just purchased 2 bed bars. Wondering how far I should mount them apart and front the front and rear of the bed? Plan to eventually get an RTT in the future. Most likely he Tepui Ayer. I was looking at measuring 12in from the front of the bed and 12in from the tailgate. Would this be enough?

Which leaves roughly 34" between the two bed bars.

I have a question on the Tepui awnings. How do you guys mount those to your tent, or rack?

Got my issue worked out it was the straps that go inside the tent and hold the mattress Velcro on place they were too tight on one side
