Let's talk color, mounting heights etc.

I assume the lighter colors let in more light? Or is this material that much thicker than your wally world tent? I was thinking tan with green fly, but gray looks like it'd block out light a lot better.

Also... I can get the foxwing awning and room fairly cheaply but that would require a full height rack, putting the tent above the roof, raising COG, and potentially impacting mpgs.

Looks like it blocks out the lights just fine. Tan n Brown is what I'll probably go with.. typical military lol

This may have been addressed before but: I am debating wether or not I want a RTT with an overhang. Overhang is good for feeling of extra space etc, but the problem is you lose a whole side with a window. I think it'd be nice to have the ladder side facing the campsite and be able to lay and look out of that side... but would I enjoy an overhang better?

Enough ranting- Give me the pros and cons of overhang vs no overhang if y'all don't mind!

For those of you who off road, how much does a high mounted tent affect driving and such?

I see a lot of them do the mid height racks with a tent that doesn't stick up much above the cab. Mine will be completely on the cab/high rack, so I am curious to others experiences as well.

I'm a no overhang fan. Living in the desert, I'm very likely to avoid rainy weather camping. Also want to maximize potential airflow thru the screened windows. The room inside the actual tent is the same either way.

I got a short time view of a overhang version of the same tent as mine when visiting backeast. I did not like the extra challenge of fitting the overhang support or stowing it when folding.

Also, with a fullsize truck, the fender is big enough that I will never run the annex, so that extra room is a moot point.

I'm torn between full height with an awning and room or or mid height/bars and just not have any cover for a kitchen setup lol.

NorCal, Alaska, AZ are places I go so rain and bad weather is always an option...

This is why I am leaning towards a full annex/room as well. My RTT gets here on Tuesday, so I guess the first step will be to play with it for a season and then see what I end up needing.

Mine has been a life saver in winter winds and rain. Gives you a place to hang out and keep dry and warm with a heater buddy.

I had an RTT without the vestibule and would've kept it had I not gone to a trailer. Since it'll be on a trailer, I wanted the vestibule and annex room since I'll be able to unhook and not have to fold up the tent all the time.

Without the vestibule, camping in the rain sucked ass.

None. Except 1mph gas mileage and looking out for low tree limbs or rock outcrops. Off roading is not always rock crawling as some seem to think.

    What hasn't been modified?
The vestibule I wound consider it worth while, especially if you might get rain/snow/ or morning dew.

I have an annex but haven't used it yet.

As for height I'm 6' 2" and with a mid height rack I have to duck to get under the tent but with it off the side it's not an issue. I like the mid height for the fact that it's not much wind drag and dosent feel too hevy
