I have one of these: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/cordless/2557-20. Works really well, but it's fairly bulky, so I don't know if it will work for your space constraints.

I'm sure it can't be terribly complicated, but I haven't found much info on the tent/rack interface. I'm going to build my own rack, but I'm not sure if the bar spacing matters for tent mounting. On a tent such as a CVT, what connects the tent base to the rack and where is it located?

Is it better to have the tent first, or are the mounting points on the tent movable to adapt to different bar spacing?

Would anyone mind posting a pic of the way the CVT mounts to the bars?

    Thank you so much.

There are two mounting rails on the bottom of the tent floor. The mounting hardware slide within the rails so you can move them where needed. Just make sure your rack mounting points are inside of your folded tent floor space.

Your welcome. The width shouldn't be a problem but the length will be depending on your tent base folded.

Loving the flag mount and flag. I may need to add a holder to my roof rack and bring a camp flag

If you're building. Wait on the tent. Using 4 Trick Tabs with shorter bolts is the clean way to mount. Nothing hangs below the crossbars and can't slide sideways. Edit to add mounted picture from underneath.

If you want the best in durability and materials then the Ruggedized is worth the price. Either are good tents but I'd go with the original Ruggedized that led the way.

I'm fairly settled on a Tepui Kukenam Rugedized. Now, if REI would just hurry up and send me one of those 20% off coupons to get it in my price range...

Good idea also! I could probably get replacement bars too for when it's not on the truck.

This is exactly what I came looking for. I almost threw my money down on a leer 100XR today, but backed out when the discussion came up about RTT/weight limit.

Anyone else with a shell/canopy with no problems? Anyone with any problems?
