Yeah, I was more interested to see if there's a problem with the fiberglass topper being able to handle the weight of the tent over time, but it appears that no one has reported cracking their topper because of a tent on top. My RTT is on my cab because I have a Bestop and already had a rack on top on my cab. I've opened and closed it more than 30 times and I just don't have an issue of climbing around the truck to get it done. I attribute some of that to the folks at CVT taking the time to show me their tricks and tips for cycling the tent. It's been super helpful.

Now that I've had the RTT for a couple of seasons, I'm moving it rearward and over the bed. I'm now deciding between having a rack that surrounds my Bestop or getting a topper. One of the reasons for moving it rearward is that when open, the cover hangs down and blocks access to one complete side of the truck. I have not found that having it up in the wind has been that big of a problem. Mid summer the wife and I did about 2,500 miles from Portland OR, through some of the Northern Baja and then Eastern California. I got 18 mph on that trip. I've gotten as low as 15, but usually get 17-18 on long trips. I have stock sized Toyo AT2s. i do have a rear CBI plate bumper with swing out carrier.

My setup evolves due to the influence of this place.

I've got a BAMF rack with a 23 Zero on top... PM me if you want specific pics, beyond what I just posted on this thread. The lower height makes it easier to access/set-up tent. You have plenty of standing room with overhang style tents. Annexes are not as useful because of the lower height though.

Dude, it's so bad. I just took my tent off last night, and on the highway today immediately felt a difference for the better.

Man that's really great to hear. I had the smaller Smittybilt tent and got rid of it because I want one with an annex. I had no issues with the tent besides the rain fly holding water above the ladder but that wouldn't be an issue with the XL.

Where did you get your Smitty from? I’m looking for those $600 deals but I haven’t found for cheaper than $899 anywhere right now.

During one of their quarterly parking lot sales. Got it for $712.99 plus an additional 75 bucks for the extra 3 years no questions asked warranty. Total was $787.99 plus California state tax. Plus I was able to pick it up the same day at their headquarters in Compton.

I’ve been told I can fall in a field of shit and come out smelling like roses
maybe someone has a better deal.

To be honest we got 3 rtt’s for less then 1k. Shipping really is a bad company to be in for business
