Hello! This past weekend my buddy showed me his RTT and now I am hooked.. I want one and now need one..

However, I have a Leer 100 XQ with (2) Thule Racks on top. Will it be able to support the weight?

Assuming me at 180 ibs + gf at 120 ibs + 150 ibs RTT so give or take just under 500 ibs added to the top.

Think that is too much for the top?

Do you have the reinforced roof version? You could call Leer to see what their recommendations are for weight

That is very reassuring and I appreciate the reply. Realistically I will not have the RTT on all of the time as I would take it off after each camping trip and store it in the garage.
So at max it would be on 24-72 hours give or take.

Anyone ever use a heater in their tent?

Yup. I use a Mr. Buddy heater. Heats the tent up in about 30 seconds I swear. I'll turn it on to heat the tent up right before bed (it's off while I sleep), and again in the morning before I get out of my sleeping bag to make it a little easier to get moving. I only use it while I'm in there by myself since there isn't enough room when two people are in the tent, and I only run it on low for no longer than 5-10 minutes. I don't use it a lot since it doesn't get too cold in the winter where I camp but its a nice luxury to have for sure.

... And then, we reached Red Pass, the highest point between Titanothere and Titus Canyons.
We understandably ran into a bit of a traffic jam here - a couple in a Jeep enjoying the view
in both directions; three trucks in front of us, taking the turn slow (for reasons we'll get into shortly).

Can't say I blame anyone for slowing down or stopping here. It was amazing...

I was thinking of possibly getting the Mr. Little Heater Buddy. Perhaps I will try out the larger one since my friend has one. I just wasn't sure how safe it is inside the tent.

I have the smaller mr. buddy heater. I don't see the need for a larger one regardless of your RTT size; they pack a pretty powerful punch. I don't put anything under it when I use it, but I do make sure there is plenty of space around the heater, and I never run it without without closely watching it. It does freak me out a little too so I only use it when I really need it. I also make sure the main door to the ladder is open (cavas material is rolled up but the mesh door is zipped shut) to allow some air circulation and prevent the any chance of carbon monoxide build up. I keep the canvas part of the door rolled up at night even while sleeping to prevent any condensation buildup. If there is any though when I wake up the heater gets rid of it quick which is convenient.

I use a Little Buddy heater and it does well in my Kukenam! I just leave it on a few minutes before I go to bed and turn it on for a few when I get up. Works great and if it tips over it shuts off automatically. Best $60 I've spent- it pays for itself on the first cold night.

Ive cooked in my ground tent vestibule before (due to rain of course) and a small canister stove does heat up the tent very quickly and nicely. I was thinking of perhaps trying it in the RTT but open flame doesn't sound smart.
