Day 2: "I Really Like Your Rear End"

... It was at this point that things got a little ... weird.
We couldn't see the two of them, so who really knows what was going on,
but the chatter over the CB was striking enough that I transcribed it
word for word on the spot, at 10:04am Saturday morning:

Hey all - So, i have a CVT Mt. Rainier. I mount it to a custom bed rack that is made from 2" DOM tubing. I've always just mounted the mounting plates around the tubing and tightened it down so that the mounting plates bend a little. That's done just fine for the last few years. Noticed today when i was putting my RTT back on the rack that the mounting plates are showing some signs of wear. There are some stress cracks from the slight bending around the DOM tubing... I'm planning on replacing the mounting plates, so wanted to see if anyone had any good solutions for mounting around tubing like this. I know some people have used U bolts, but have had issues with the RTT sliding.

I came across these Yakima universal snap arounds, which would be a cool solution, but i don't think they'd be wide enough for my rack. I think they are meant for smaller diameter tubing...

Any ideas or solutions that you guys have seen or are using?

Anyone have pics on how they've used exhaust clamps to mount their RTT?

I actually came across these, which i think would fit the bill for me. it would prevent the mounting plates from being bent around the tube and seems like they'd be plenty strong.

Here's another version of this idea I saw on here somewhere. They used door trim to protect the crossbar:

Day 3: Are We Stuck in The Maze?

...as I poked my head out the tent, I noticed that not only was it windy,
but there was just a bit of snow falling - a sure sign that there'd be
no sunrise to capture. "Oh well, I thought - I got a couple good ones
already this trip, I'll get another hour or so of sleep and hopefully
the snow will have stopped when we get up."

    Oh, was I wrong.

Just can across this video while looking to buy one. Makes sense to move the bedding to the rear since it's higher in the back. That was a deal breaker for me not to be able to leave the bedding inside.
