    Yeah.
Great idea! I haven't had any wind issues yet, but mine never seems to fold open quite flat, and I always get that popping. I carry ratchet straps right next to the tent rods, duh.

I see a lot of 4Runners here in Colorado that have RTT on top I just couldn't imagine trying to lift that up by myself like I did with my truck. Awesome looking 4th Gen tho:fistbump:

Ive been camping almost every other weekend so unloading and loading the RTT would be a pain. also storage is very limited. I may look into ordering those security devices as well as steal cables. Some one broke into my truck a couple of weeks ago. Thankfully the RTT was still there.

Most of the lifted runners I see are like 8 feet to the roofline it seems. No thanks. My 80% height rack is tall enough.

Knock on wood, I've been lucky as far as never having had my truck broken into...and I've had to park in some sketchy places being as it's also my DD. My fiancé used to live in a really sketchy part of Hollywood where I'd have to park my truck. I credit it to luck for the most part, but also the alarm system I had installed when I got my truck. Dealer ripped me off on it big time but I do think it serves as a deterrent, the flashing blue LED light at the very least. Most thieves want a quick and easy smash 'n grab with as little noise or chaos as possible. Also the alarm disengages the starter so the truck can only be stolen if it's hauled away on a flat bed.

Thankfully, I didn't start building out my truck until after I moved to SLC. Torrance/Gardena/Carson/Compton where I used to live and work was super sketch.

    Yes!
Mine completely folded up on me in the wind!!!
Take rainfly off and I use bungee cords to secure the tent to either the rim or something under fender... I removed the plastic fender well liners so I have access to the frame and other places. So far I’ve had success with the bungees and haven’t needed to use ratchet straps. I just go ahead and use the bungees on the pre-installed d-ring hoops uses to strap it down when closed. I also just throw them on now even if it’s not that windy..

Nice, yeah we ended up moving in together to a nicer neighborhood community just outside of Pasadena...then come to find out a few weeks later that there's actually a substantial amount of gang activity out here. Fucking LA for ya I guess. Still though, I haven't had any trouble personally (knock on wood).

IMG_20180503_163701397.jpg Popped it out for the first time, this tent is awesome. CVT is the way to go, great Customer service also. I have the Summit Awning also and the hardware was missing they have sent me all of that and the LED kit as an extra. Awesome people for sure.

Anyone using these for security? They look pretty tough but $130.00 is a bit high. Or is it a good piece of mind that it provides theft proof security. Any better options ? Going to be mounting my tent soon and i dont really want to take it off all the time. [IMG][IMG]

If your using a rack in your truck bed I would recommend eyebolts with padlocks. Or...here is another way .

I keep my tent stored in my garage unless I’m using it. Nearly 6 years later it’s in perfect shape.
That said I’ll be putting it on again this weekend - looking forward to a couple nights camping in Nc.
