Good to know. I have a one year old ruggedized kukenam 3 person, and I'm thinking of going with your Mt Rainier standard stargazer summit which is 16" wider. Will make a decision by the end of next week, and figure out what to do with the one I already have, probably sell it locally.

Any complaints about the stargazer windows? Not sure if they’d get brittle or discolored? Has anyone ran a tent with them a while and be willing to give some feedback?

    Very nice camp spot!
Might be common knowledge but a little trick the wife and I learned (have the same tent in Summit Series with thicker fabric so it might not be such an issue for you) when closing up the tent I extend the ladder all the way out which allows me to hold the tent 90* and less, the wife can then tuck all the fabric in at the pleats between the tent supports. It helps us from having to fight the stuffing after it's closed and only takes a few minutes. Works for us FWIW. Welcome to the CVT family!

Edit-just realized you might have anchor points and bungies on the inside that does this for you. Unfortunately with the Summit series I dont.

Are there any reports of an RTT being stolen? If someone has the tools and time to remove all the bolts securing it to the rack, then they probably have the tools (hacksaw/bolt cutters) and time to cut the cable or the bolts on that $130 security fix.

If it gives you peace of mind and allows you to sleep better than it is worth it. I just wonder if it is a solution for a mostly non existent problem.

Well I just became part of this cool club. I just ordered a Mt Shasta extended from CVT. @Cascadia Tents any idea when you will have the condensation mats in stock?

Its like anything....if the opportunity presents itself people will take it. I doubt actual left from a vehicle happens hardly ever. The only cases i could find via google, the whole vehicle was stolen. But if you were to leave it parked for a couple days say at a trail head theres always the possibility.

I wouldnt personally go spending tons of money on a "security" setup. Just a simple cable lock and padlock will keep most away. Unless they have a hacksaw in which case security nuts wont stop them just cutting the bolts. You can get a simple cable lock and lock if you know any gun owners. Pretty much every new gun comes with a cable lock and padlock that should work (cable length would have to be checked on your setup)

Just got back from Utah, so sorry for the delay. Here is the only picture I have of the tail gate down. It’s with out the annex on. The opening for to the truck bed/canopy is not snug but it fits pretty nice. I was pleasantly surprised. With the annex properly staked out there is lots of room inside. As you can see there is lots of room between ladder and tailgate

Considering that CVT sells just (8) security nuts and a socket for $80 bucks, just a socket and 4 nuts. Whereas this kit comes with grade 8 hardware , a tube of blue lockTite, a tamper resistance bracket and a much better designed bracket that will better hold the tent to the bedrail? CVT. Have you seen the standard supplied stamped bar that holds the tent to the bed bar? And most tent don't even come with grade 8 hardware in the first place.

Alright, i need some help. Trying to decide between a couple of different tents and looking for any input from people who have them. Looking for a 2 person + dog sized tent. The one's i have on my radar are the Yakima Skyrise Medium, CVT Mt Shasta Standard Stargazer pioneer, and the Tepui explorer series kukenam 3.

I'm looking for a 3 season tent, something that's good in the rain as i'm in the PNW, easily locked/secured to a rack, and that can mount nicely to a BAMF low profile roof top tent rack.

Pro's and con's (as far as i can tell)
    Yakima
    + Price
    + Good Canadian dealer support
    + Easily lockable to rack
    + Weight

    - Rainfly come's down pretty low in front of the door ruining the view (first world problems i know)
    - Not 100% sure of how the clamps would fit around larger diameter tubing

    CVT
    +Better Fabric and thicker mattress
+Nicer front door opening (i think?)

    -Weight
-Border shipment (shipments across border always cost an arm and leg)

    Tepui
+Seems to be the "standard" in good quality tents
    +Nicer collapsible ladder
    +Canadian availability

    -Price
    -Available colours

Please let me know if any of my perceived pluses/cons are misguided, any input would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like the Autana 3 Explorer, I have one in transit. Can't recall if you ordered one yet or not, but I should have mine sometime this week if you want to check it out in person.

Thanks! And thanks for the tip! That was literally the first time we closed it together, so we're still figuring it out lol. The next couple of nights we were much better and stuffing it and closing it. I had no idea what those anchor point on the inside are for, I'll have to look into some bungee cords that'll fit!
