I assume it doesn't matter what brand you purchase?

i fully repaired my tent after being fallen on by a tree.

I had to buy a new base, which i got through @Box Rocket. it was a complete tent without the canvas which was exactly what i need and allowed me to have spare parts. Was a very easy swap. Also affordable as well.

It was unexpected that's for sure. I bought mine right when CBI took over Prinsu so I don't remember which company sent it.

OK I just watched a installation video for Tepui (as I have the tent waiting for pickup at REI) and then I looked at my RCI bed rack. I could maybe see a couple of ways to approach mounting the tent on the rack. Does anyone have any heard earned lessons I should know about? I'm hoping to avoid mounting the rails only to need to pull the tent back down and change which direction they run in.

Thanks! I was planning to have it open on the side but you make a good point that I didn't think about.

I am still at work and didn't articulate my concern very well in the post. Apologies for that.

I'm concerned about the mounting brackets themselves. The video shows a flat plate bracket with a bolt on each side of a round bar roof rack. The RCI rack has channels and has a flat surface on top with 90 degree angles dropping down a bit so it's a totally different geometry. If the bracket goes up into the channel I could see how the tent might be able to get loose and slide around a little. The channels are much wider than the bracket. But that assumes the channels on the tent would also align with the channels on the bed rack.

Maybe pics would help. I'm a bit rusty with posting on forums. It's been a long time.

    Thanks for the insight. :)

I should have started with "Question for RCI bed rack owners!" but I'm coming up on 65 or 70 hours of work this week and no beer in hand yet. I'm off of my game. Haha.

I don't know about the RCI rack but my CBI bed bars that are similar have slots running from left to right in the top. Instead of using the supplied brackets I just used 4 bolts instead of 8 and bolted straight through the bed bars. This is plenty of support and I haven't had any issues through lots of bumps and bouncing.
