Finally joined the club! Got my custom rack setup to work with my bakflip, Smittybilt RTT + Awning from local classifieds.
Took it out down to southern UT for its maiden voyage, the lady and I couldn't be happier

 

Looks great. Any info on the custom rack? I am looking at having a local shop make me one as well

 

Pretty straightforward, two square bars that run the length of the siderails and are bolted into the truck, with modular crossbars that bolt on to those. I can take them off / just run one or two for bikes, etc. Gives me a ton of options and a super clean look when I don't have the tent on.

Are you near Salt Lake City? The guy who made them (awesome guy) actually made a jig thinking that others would be interested, I can connect you guys and he would be happy to whip you one up however you'd like it.

Bought a CVT Mt Shasta Standard today using the Tacomaworld promo code. It was enough savings that I could justify the purchase, sorta LOL. Excited to use it when in the U.P for mtn biking.

 

Anyone tried one of these fixnzip replacement zipper pulls? I finally broke mine apart. I read one review from person who used this on an off-brand RTT and he said it didn't engage the teeth properly.

Got my updated Tepui Lightning not long ago and needed to mod it for when we're carrying bikes on the hitch rack:

Measure [way more than] twice and drill once...
That was scary!
Test fit before locking things down
Real-world trial - success!

I could have gone for a swing-out hitch rack or even a roof rack, but it's also nice to have a few different points of entry/exit so we're not crawling over each other to take a whiz!

So far so good. I’ve used and abused it about 25 times since I bought it.

 

For sure! I actually just dropped off the bars back to him for powder (let me borrow them for the 4th vacation) but once I get them back I'll be making a thread showing the build, features, etc.
Will be getting them back in about a week, and will take some good pics.
A surprising number of people have reached out to me about this solution and I haven't really shared much info about it yet or advertised it or anything.
