Will do! I'll be headed out next weekend for its inaugural trip and will report back. Build quality is great and it's rated for 500lb static load. I think where this stands apart is the ability to keep my tonneau cover on for additional security/peace of mind. If you aren't necessarily looking for that feature, bars might be more what your looking for.

    Advice needed:

I just sold my bedrack to switch to a snug top topper. I needed waterproof storage, but after talking to CVT and snugtop I’m not sure my Mt Rainier Summit series can safely be mounted on the topper. Snugtop said 200lbs max evenly distributed. That covers the tent, but no one inside.

How have you reinforced your topper? Pics are welcome!!
    Pm if you want...

I have considered adding tracks and multiple bars to the top and building a wooden skeleton out of 2x4’s to support the weight. I’m bummed, but know someone has a good diy affordable option.

Thanks in advance. Pic of the old setup for reference.

I've been eyeing that bed bar and tonneau setup for a while now. Does the tent at that height completely obstruct the rear view? It'd be a much cheaper alternative to a mid/full height bed rack.

The front runner bars can hold 600 lbs however the bed rail system on your third gen does not. I would suggest the cbi load bar set. We can set you up with those if you would like

I also went with the Mobtown so I could have a roll-up tonneau. I'm also around 230# and don't feel any flex while moving around in the tent.

The Mobtown works perfectly with a roll-up tonneau. I went with that height to reduce wind drag and cost. There's very limited visibility from the rear. Basically enough to see if a car is right behind me when driving. The backup camera and blind spot monitors are a big help when backing up.

I was thinking about putting a road shower in the same spot on the rack too! How'd you end up mounting it and what are you using between the two bed bars (I see a black connector piece)? Yeah the height of it is great because you can still fit through parking garages, drive thrus, etc and like mentioned, the visibility in the rear view mirror is enough to see if someone is getting too close but essentially useless. I'm looking at the anytime backup cam mod for a little bit of piece of mind and so the wife won't be as nervous to drive it.

Love the Road Shower. Two of my friends liked it so much, they bought one. The Road Shower has channels on two sides, with included brackets, that easily mount to the bed rack. I wanted a way to attach kayak paddles and a shovel. Perfect spot was painting and mounting some angle iron from Lowes to the Mobtown rack.

Im almost ready to purchase some bars and an FSR high country 55”. Does anyone leave their tent on their truck year round on their daily driver? I live in an apartment complex and no storage, open parking, and I travel to different hospitals for work. Will renters insurance cover the tent?

I suggest doing the $300 upgrade to the tri-layer. I purchased the regular High Country and changed my order when I learned about the upgrade. Unfortunately, there was a mix up and they delivered my original order. Just picked up the tri-layer on Monday. Since I've had a chance to compare both tents, I think it's well worth the additional cost. I plan to leave mine on year round - I'll be installing a cable lock and additional locking nuts on the mount to slow down the theft process. Sorry, can't help with the insurance question.

I thought about upgrading but I will never really be in any cold climates. I actually plan to move back home to hawaii in about a year. Would you say the tri layer is that much better in quality? Is the quality If the tent cover better as well?

I upgraded specifically because I enjoy camping in the fall and winter. I live near Lake Tahoe and am looking forward to using the tent this winter. It's ability to move condensation out of the tent should reduce mold. Simply from an eyeball and touch perspective, the materials appear (I'm no expert), to be more durable. I'd give them a call to see if your eventual usage in Hawaii is worth the additional cost.

Keeping my tonneau is exactly why I'm looking at the Mobtown setup too.

Thanks, I had concern about the capacity of the bed rails. I looked at the Front Runner bars as a possible alternative that would let me keep the tonneau cover mounted but open to install the bars and RTT when needed. The CBI's would require removal of the cover to install. Mobtown may be my best option ... still researching.
