not sure who that was directed towards but I mounted my chandlerdoom hardshell tent onto my cabrack and my xm signal is spotty at best. It will work but as I drive along, the signal cuts in and out pretty frequently.

Thanks, that's what I figured. My wife likes the Tepui for the roof mounted window for that reason.

They work with quite a few covers but I am not sure what kind of cover you have.

Yeah I have been looking at 3 brands, CVT and Tepui ruggedized or Gordigear. The problem with the CVT rugged is it comes with the annex included which I can't use being it is going to be mounted 6 inches above the bed. I was thinking of calling and see if they can sell it without at a discount.

From my experience the clear windows neat at first, but it s a material that is prone to scratching easily which makes the windows get hazy and hard to see through, which kinda defeats the purpose. It can also dry out and crack, which isn't what I'd want in a rainfly.
On my own tent, I just roll the rainfly back to the centerline of the roof and put a bungie around it if I want to use the "sky" windows. If it starts to rain, it's pretty easy to just roll the rainfly back out and put the rods back in. definitely easier than taking the rainfly off completely.

You will likely be able to get one of the tension rods in, but the other will not clear the cab. I just use a bungee cord and strap it to my roof rack to open it up. You just have to be creative.

Yeah I figured I can use 550 cord with a knot at the end and put it through the back windows.

You may still be able to use an annex. My CVT tent sits a little higher than yours, but mine is not a the height I see most RTTs mounted. The CVT annex has big velcro strips on the inside you can use to fold up some of the excess material. With a little macgyvering I think you could make it work.

One thing worth mentioning though...I used my annex like this once when it was raining and for some reason water was pooling in the folded/excess material. it made for a super fun game of 'try to not spill the water and get soaked every time you enter/exit the tent'. Learned very quickly that if I ever setup the annex and theres a chance of rain you need to remove the floor of the annex so you can drain the water without it creating a kiddy pool under the ladder.

Pic of my setup for reference...

Nice looking tent, haven't looked into Free Spirit. I don't think that would fit on my short bed with rails mounted about 6" over the bed.

It should fit if you don't have a swingout

    To my CVT guys.

I'm trying to decide between the 2 person Mt. Bachelor vs the 2+ person Mt. Shasta for my wife & I.

Other than the obvious 7" sleeping width difference, it says the Bachelor "is a great tent for people who don’t want the overhangs on their tent when it sits so low to the ground."

However, the photos for the Bachelor and the Shasta look exactly the same.

What are they talking about when they mention the overhangs?

Oh, okay, that makes sense! By "Overhang" they're talking about the Annex.

Looks like the Bachelor (2 person) is 48" wide x 96" long sleeping area.
The Shasta (2+ person) is 56" wide x 96" long sleeping area.

So basically it seems like the cost difference gives you 7" extra sleeping width + annex if I'm reading correctly.

Thanks! Glad I asked, figured there might be a catch there. Going to check out your vendor on ebay.
