    Same here. It's a truck. You don't really need to upgrade you suspension when you put around 300 lbs on...

    The fronts are stupid easy if you are getting full coilover replacements. Spring swaps scare the hell outta me though because of spring compressor jankiness. The back is a little trickier but still pretty manageable.

    What suspension pieces are you going with?

    Not quite sure how sendy I want to get yet... Either full OME or the cheaper side of an adj coilover. 1st gen with 160k miles, only had it for about 2 weeks so haven't decided on my long term plans or how nice I want to go.

    I know iKampers have been covered but I love mine. Sleek and low profile, and about the size of a queen/king bed inside. I can sleep solo in any direction and not touch at 5’10. It really is what they advertise, and I keep my bedding in it. I used my awning for the first time and it was huge. 30 seconds to set up and 90 seconds to close. Before I had a Yakima that was a great little tent, but this thing is awesome. I can sleep with my 3 teenagers in there, I wired it for charging and LED lights and a RAM ball to my iPad for movies.     cry once; buy once is real. Get what you really want. That said,
    I've had a few friends that are really happy with their OME kits. The 5100 type shocks are pretty nice as well and are adjustable for the budget minded. Just need the scary spring compressor if you want to adjust them yourself.

    You might try a visit to the NPS store in SLC. There has been 5100s found there for really cheap laying on the shelves.

    In fairness, I've only changed springs once, and my friend already had the spring compressor for his subie. I'll have to watch that when I get home.

    Yeah I should probably just get it over with and never look back. Something in my mind has a problem with putting 2-3k suspension on an old truck.

    Fully understand that. I'd keep it simpler in that case.

    If you do decide to go big, consider the following: Kings shocks for OEM bolt in and for an LT kit are the almost exactly same price... something I wish I had thought of ahead of time (but I have a '15)

    Yeah.
    Just a rack and RTT is 150 - 200 pounds depending on size of tent and rack. It's the camping and recovery gear that starts adding up. Water, fuel, full cooler, maybe firewood, cooking gear, tools, and recovery gear can easily add another 300 or more. I personally did air bags for when I'm fully loaded and am happy with that setup.

    Ain't that the truth. Thankfully, I have really managed to shitcan a lot of extra stuff. Now it is just

    1. strap in cooler or fridge
    2. throw in kitchen tote
    3. throw in recovery gear bag
    4. (optional) insert mtn bike

    boom, weekend trip accomplished.

    If you are going to be running the RTT and bedrack I would just make sure to at least get Bedside Reinforcements to prevent the bed from flexing out.

    I'd slept well through the rain, earplugs doing their job to mute the noise of the drops on the tent. But they did little to soften that first clap of thunder. It wasn't until the next flash of lightning that I could count the delay - about 8 seconds - not too bad.

    Hard to explain unless you are looking at the hoist. The cable on each side passes through a plastic collar that has a square center to slide and lock onto the axle. The side without the gear box is the issue. You’ll notice that the collar sort of slides on and holds, but as the cable winds it will push the collar off of the square portion of the axle and spin freely. If that happens it’s coming down on that half. So I drilled a hole and put a retaining screw behind the collar so it can’t slide off of the square axle section.
