I wish the Tepui came with the roof support bar over the ladder side of the tent. That's my biggest issue with my tent, along with it's growing age and the fact that half of the seam tape doesn't actually cover the seams and looks like a 2 year old applied it. (my tent is also at least 3+ years old and has seen three owners so the age is catching up)

Ive had the M49 and the original one with the ladder overhang. Both great tents. Never had any issues.

Now I have a Roofnest hardshell. I almost bought the automatic Adventure series, but the hardshell appealed more to me.

They have hardshells on Amazon. I wish i had looked there before I dropped $2500 on my current tent. But they don't have a brand. That's the only downside. I think they're all the same in the end

Also @stronghammer for an awning, I would definitely go with the Amazon or walmart versions. Ive had an ARB 4ft and a walmart 6ft and, yes there were some slight quality differences, but IMO, not worth the markup of a couple hundred bucks.

awesome thanks for that! I swapped back to a Mt Shasta Extended so awning over the ladder is covered by the tent now, but if I ever add another one on the bedrack I'll go the walmart way

that's a drawback to the hardshells, unless you get one that has one incorporated.

Look up "car awning" or something along those lines.. They range from $100-$160. Also on Amazon, and you might be able to get prime.

I think the tent has zippers along the top of the fabric. I am not sure though.

I know that's how CVT designed theirs, but my ChandlerDoom Tent did not have a zipper for the awning to be attached to.

...We'd spent a good amount of time on this canyon crossing and we had a way to go before we reached the Grand Bench. Our discussion now - given the clearly impending rain and weather warnings on the ham radio - was about whether we wanted to camp at Grand Bench or try to make it out and back through this section of trail before the ground was saturated.

Ultimately, we decided that either way we were going to Grand Bench, and that we better get on it. So we did.

Read what happened, and check out some crazy photos: F.U.Rain Day 8 - The Grand Bench is a Grand Mess

For anyone that’s curious you can get free spirit tents off of Amazon and from the looks of it you can get free shipping on most of them and they seem to be cheaper than their website.
