I posted this in the 3rd gen forum but haven't received any input back. Figured I would post it here.

So I have the 3 person Yakima RTT and as of right now I am using Yakima's Bedrock bars to mount it to the back. I do not like this setup to say the least. The round bars tend to sag with the weight of the tent alone but when me and and my wife get in, it sags even more in the center. I actually use a notched 2x4 to help support the center weight.

Is there anyone else here that has this tent? I would like to see your setup and what bars you use. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a set but am nervous about how they will fit, especially with Yakima's mounting system. I'm looking for a rack that's about 4"-6" above the bed rails. I'm 6'4" so it would be nice if it was a little higher.

Not sure what those are made of, but any set of steel bed bars will do much better and get you up to the height you want. I went with AllPro because they had them in stock ready to ship, but they're all virtually the same. You won't sag these.

So one of my little tabs to hold down the rain fly broke off. How the hell do I fix that? Carefully sew it on then seal it up somehow?

Not much. They’re not replacable from what I’ve found. I used a safety pin.

I’ll be honest. I’m tired of the reports about your posts across the site. We could just reply ban you from every meaningful thread or we could just ban you all together for incessant shit posting. Or you can take the opportunity to decide if you would like to participate on this forum or not. Your choice.

Jumped on the iKamper x-cover prerelease....come June/July I hope to have a review up of my initial impression.

Went with this one for the weight (110lbs), size (2.5" king size mattress should be big enough for me, Wife, and 2 young kids), and sale price ($1,000 off means if it doesn't work out for us I can likely get out of it and not lose a bunch of money).

I saw those. Looks like a good tent and nice and thin and flat. Would still need to carry around bags instead of storing them inside but I like it. Interested to hear your review and pics.

The one who dies with the most stuff wins.
Finally got around to lifting my tent and rack off the truck. Used this hoist from the ceiling and honestly I wouldn't recommended it. Overall it just seemed cheaply made. The gears in the gearbox offer close to zero mechanical advantage, so lifting the weight is really hard, and my 20V Dewalt drill wasn't able to lift it with the included attachment either. But the biggest problem with it is that when you lower the load, and then take weight off the cables the entire roll at the top becomes a bird's nest. So the system I needed to use was to zip tie a gallon of washer fluid to each cable, then lower it on to the truck to rig up. This kept weight on the spool until I was ablate put the weight of the tent on it. Since I don't trust it, I installed safety straps at each corner. If the hoist falls, these straps will catch the load, preventing a catastrophe. I did install a bolt at the recommendation of @Papadave418, and it seems like that was huge a help!
    Safety straps here:
You can see the bolt I added here preventing the cable spool from unwinding from the axel:
