Yup. About an inch. You'll want it if you do any cool weather camping
We have the tepui comfort one.... I'd say stay with egg crate or an air pad if you can. Or honestly throw a thick blanket under it.

Shit I had trouble getting the tent flat and folded up with just the tent and pad in let alone another 2” pad. First time closing the extended CVT but I could get away with it with my Tepui.

Maybe I just need a few more times with the CVT to find the best way.

Thanks, was looking at something similar. So, did you add that over the current mattress, or replace the existing one?

I was looking at that one as an option as well, just not sure it would make that much of a difference. Tried the blanket thing.

I'm right on the edge of comfort as it is now, but a couple weeks ago got too relaxed (set up next to a creek in a very remote and quiet spot) and my shoulder came partially out of its socket while I was sleeping on that side -- I dislocated it a few times when I was younger, so the ligaments are stretched. Had to get a cortisone shot. So, just looking for some extra pressure relief above what the standard mattress provides.

I'll check out air pads -- I'd like to add a condensation mat, and I keep my sleeping bag and pillows in there already. Probably won't close easily if I add another layer of foam.

    Thanks for the input, guys.

With my CVT, I pre-fold everything inside the tent before collapsing it to ensure it all folds properly. Then I sit on top to compress the mattress and foam topper for a minute or two. While sitting on top I’ll slide to each side and engage the straps in order to get as much compression out of it while I’m sitting. Once I jump down, I’ll give each of the straps another good pull to remove any leftover slack.

Has worked well for me so far after adding the 2” foam topper. Takes a little extra time, but it’s worth getting it closed up with everything inside as opposed to throwing it in the cab while traveling.

Added it over the current mattress. Particularly liked this one because it already came with a cover. Most others you’d have to buy a cover separately.

The wife and myself are much happier with the topper. I can get it closed up with the original mattress, foam topper, and condensation mat from CVT. Although I have the thinner condensation mat. I know they have another that’s much thicker.

I actually just went to foambymail.com and custom ordered the exact size of my tents mattress and got a 1” thick super soft foam and custom fit it. It was thin enough to be able to put it in the matresss cover with the original mattress I just had to cut it to match the Shape

I have a plan to use cobra buckles for all of my straps.

You can get 1 inch webbing all day long at REI or Backcountry as well.

I'm finally back on the road again this weekend. Gonna be a rad trip! If you leave now, you might be able to make our 7AM Saturday rally time.

You will actually want a "hoist" most likely. I am in the process of finishing mine up. Unfortunately, my roof is not high enough to back truck in with RTT on. I built a ramp off the back of the truck so the RTT could slide off my shell and down to the garage floor. I am mounting my hoist in the rafters of my garage with a hole through the ceiling of garage. The cable and hook pass through the hole and down to garage floor where I can pick up the tent and raise it up to the ceiling for storage. I put a couple of straps under for safe storage.

I went through google images and youtube for all a ton of ideas and came up with what will work best for me in my situation. It would have been a hell of a lot easier if my garage door was higher.
PS-I tried a simple hook and tie down strap first but that will not work without a pulley system because of the weight and friction.

I bought the harbor freight electric hoist with a 20% off coupon...$80.

What says everyone about the tepui weatherhood? Not super thrilled about using one, but for this weather, it makes me consider it. #apartmentlife makes it hard to fold my tent out to dry when I get home, plus the fact that it has been below freezing for most of the last few weeks.

debating whether it is worth it for precipitation and avoid getting the tent wet, even though it wont be super cold (mid 20s at night)

It's pretty rugged. You still retain the vents. Doesn't let the wind cut through. It will frost up from condensation forming on the outside if it's below freezing, because it is warmer inside after all. I like mine.

....they also sell a flannel liner now I guess ?

@Bruce988jl what are your thoughts on the tepui weather cover
