Haven't used mine in the rain yet. Only the white stuff. Can't be much help there . But given the material used I'm guessing it could beat a downpour. But don't take my word for it.

 

Yeah, I'm more worried about the snow threat this weekend. Look pretty resilient, but most of the literature touts the warmth factor primarily, not the anti-snow factor.

 

How about this. I'll throw mine up Friday and let you know. Haha.

 

I had frost on both sides of it... but then again I have the Autana so one side is exposed and not covered...

 

That’s a brilliant idea to save a few bucks. I will take the electric winch with remote control however. With the manual winch I would have to climb up into attic every time I wanted to raise or lower the tent. Great idea though.

 

You can still run a pulley with the winch

 

I never really pay much attention to the extension to be honest. I usually just stuff it inside without any rhyme or reason.

 

FWIW i camped in 19* no rain/snow and had just minimal condensation on the walls in my tent without any weather hood. I just let it air out and "warm up" when i made breakfast and coffee then packed it up.

 

That's what I usually do as well. Just trying to keep any snow / rain accumulation off the fabric.

 

i've thought about one as well for the wintery trips where i dont really want to shiver into my 0* bag.

Now i have the heater which will in turn add more condensation but ill see how this does. Cheaper than a hood.

 

Hmmm, a little buddy might be able to cook off any moisture if you left it running while cooking breakfast...

Anybody else ever had somebody tell you they thought your RTT was a grill? I've had two people recently that thought that was the case recently.

 

Most people just assume it's a canvas box for gear...

 

I've been asked if it was just a matress.

 

Living in Alabama I get "what's that thang?" A lot. More often directed at the snorkel, but to the tent as well. When i tell folks it's a tent the next question is always "like fer sleepin in?"

 

my favorite is that my CVT literally says "CASCADIA VEHICLE TENTS"
