    I can't see how it would retract back into itself. I know dirt is an issue. I thought sand would get caught in it and make it difficult to impossible to close. I do dislike the telescopic ladder though. I'll try to pull it from the bottom out next time.

    How can they slowly retract? If you pull the ladder out all the way as you're supposed to, each section locks open. And if you shorten the ladder from the bottom, there's a chance it will collapse.

    Dirt or sand on the thing is probably more of an issue since that can keep it from collapsing.

    I'm Thinking it was user error. I did not pull it out right the first time. It didn't look right to me so I read again how to use it and fixed my issue. I also use a tie down strap non ratcheting to hold my ladder down I just attract it to the top rung and my rear wheel. Works well for me.

    Wanted to add mine to the collection. I will be taking some real pictures this weekend, sorry for the cell phone quality.

    Rack is mounted with ID tube clamps welded to the bumper (CBI) and to mounts bolted to the front bed so it can be removed if I ever need to haul something tall in the bed. 1.5" pipe travels through the tonneau cover (bak industries roll-x) at the front of the bed, holes are sealed with silicone. The tonneau still rolls up and locks so gear is secured. Bike mounts on each side, rotopax, hi-lift, and maxtrax are mounted under the tent rails.

    I just need to know how the actual cover connects I bought mine without a cover on it and no predrilled holes and I think I did it backwards is the zipper supposed to be on the bottom half or the top half? Thanks man.. Really getting worried that I messed my tent up
