Craig Mountain Part 1 - Lost!
    May 25, 2019.

An astute reader may recall that we'd headed east a few days before Memorial Day - not just to explore Hells Canyon, but to meet up with Mike @Digiratus, Monte @Blackdawg, and Devin @MissBlackdawg. At least, those were the folks we knew; we were also rendezvousing with @BabyTaco Gage and his wife, and a couple of their friends - long overdue if you ask me.

From our current location at Hells Canyon Dam, it was some 5 hours north to Lewiston, ID, where we'd all planned to meet for lunch, so we were up early - for sunrise if it'd been sunny and we'd been able to see the horizon - to eat a quick breakfast and do our best to dry off the tent from the torrential downpour the night before.

Read the whole story, and see all the pics: Craig Mountain Part 1 - Lost!

How do the Fsr high country tents hold up to consecutive day of rain? I've been reading some reviews that they can leak and pool. Wouldn't mind hearing some first hand experience on here.

Curious to know your thoughts on the rivets on the ladder, and the fabric of the mattress cover.

    My 2 "issues"

Well the rivets all seem to be “inadequate”.. being that before it was out of the box I already had a lid latch laying on the floor. The mattress cover seems ok, haven’t been inside of it yet. The smell was too strong. Was super disappointed about the rivets failing before even taking it out of the box, but I have plenty of rivets so it was fixed in 5 minutes. I will be emailing them to see about an extra latch just to keep in case it fails on a trail somewhere and I lose a piece. The mattress seems nice, will have a better idea tomorrow when I crawl inside. I will note that it’s difficult to close without a second person.

Exactly. To me the Roofnest fabric felt like old t-shirt.

My FSR is diamond stitched. But the mattress is firm. I need to add some padding

I hope you didn't mount the tent to both racks. As you off-road and get off camber your bed will flex and something is bound to break. I'd slide the tent a little further off the front rack

It’s mounted only to the rear. I spaced it up 1/2” to clear the side rails of the rear rack, but I drove it this morning and it appears to be rubbing under bumpy conditions on the front rack. I’ll be raising the feet on the rear rack up another 1/2” today.

I took some ideas from another forum member and built a power box for my RTT.
It has one 12 volt socket, two USB high power sockets that are always powered.
Then there is one USB high power plug that has switched power for the LED under the overhang.
I installed a military style twist lock plug for the interior LED and that socket is controlled by a dimmer switch.
Power enters through a mini Anderson plug so the box can be stowed when not in use.

Me too, looks like a diy with a cot tent now that I am looking at it on something besides my phone.

What are you using for a cover? How is it holding up? I just might try this for a fraction of the cost of a RTT.

That's the one. Got it on sale for $260, frontrunner rack was more expensive @ $289 but I love the way it looks. Couple of big U-bolts and I've got my whole setup for about $550, but I really think the biggest benefit is the weight, the tent probably weighs 30 lbs, which keeps your CG lower, and allows installation and removal alone in about as fast as you can tighten 8 nuts.

The "cover" is simply the thick bag it comes in zipped up and folded over the corners with 2 bungee cords. It's incredibly sturdy and doesnt flap even a little at speeds up to 100mph.
