Nice tent but I hope you don't have any issues with it because their customer service is horrible given the price point. I've been trying to work with them to resolve a fulfillment error on their end and was told that I got what I got and they have no intention to work with me to resolve it...they shipped the wrong color and will not offer an exchange or refund. To top it off, if I take the tent to a local vendor to have it vinyl wrapped they will not honor the warranty.

...I didn't get going all that fast, but even at 15mph or so, when you've got the right depth of water, the effect can be dramatic. Everyone loved it, I think. I know I did. :)

That sucks. I think and I hope warranty issues have more to do with the local dealer. I was really pleased with the service I got by the local Rhino dealer. I had an issue with one of the keys breaking in the lock (on the locking RTT mounts). He immediately sent me a whole new set of locks and keys.

That's reassuring. My dealings have been directly with iKamper since mine was a preorder.

It is but at the same time I’m a little disappointed to hear about your experience. I agree, for the price point the customer should come first.

Out of all the threads on here, this seemed like the most helpful one. I'm slowly becoming more interested in buying a RTT but had a few questions. Besides being off the ground, what are the pros of having one as opposed to having a regular tent? Are they just regular tents with a solid floor or must you figure out a platform and attach the tent to it? I've had a few tents get chewed up here in Florida because most campsites are set up as stone for RV's and I'd like to not have to sew tents anymore...

Pro: It takes about 3-5 minutes to open/set up. Being off the ground is amazing.

Con: The initial mattress that comes with the tent is usually not enough for comfort. So a bed topper is recommended to buy as well. When you gotta piss in the middle of the night climbing in/out half asleep may not be for everyone.

I love my roof top tent though. Eventually I plan to build a trailer for it though as well to bring along my toys and be able to leave it at camp set up. Having to pack up the tent and your gear whenever you want to leave a camp site or roam around with your truck can get annoying on longer camping trips.

    Nailed it. I'd also add...

Pro: I sleep better in my RTT than at home. The comfort of the tent (either w/ added foam topper or my stock FSR mattress) and being out in nature are awesome.

Could be the nature thing more than the mattress

Are they generally a U bolt to mount? I've got a KB VooDoo mid-height and not really sure how they would go. It's got wide, flat slats with the middle available for washers/bolts.

    1. A mattress
    2. Out of mud, rocks, critters etc.
    3. Depending on model set up and breakdown time. I can set up in one minute and breakdown in two minutes.
    4. I own a hard shell so it holds up well in the wind.
    5. Some tents can fold up with the bedding still in them.

Guys who dislike or hate on RTT’s will list a bunch of reasons why they suck or the drawbacks. For me the only drawback is if I want to drive the truck away from camp, tent goes with.

One time, this was actually a pro for me...

It was a windy stormy summer night at a campground in Utah in July of 2018. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled. Rain drops were darting on full auto from on high. The urge to go pee was undeniable. I got out of the sleeping bag as stealthily as I could to avoid waking my adorable cougar who was sleeping in the rooftop tent with me. When I got to the tent doors (a mesh inner door flap and a canvass outer door flap), I frantically tried to open them, no longer worried about the noise, since the rain drops were so loud to mask the unzipping of the tent doors. I rolled them up and locked them in place with the hoop straps so that I can take a better look outside.

A dark murky stage was presented past the drawing of the curtain doorway, only revealing momentary glimpses of the surrounding trees with each flash of lightning. As I knelt at the edge by the tent entrance doorway, I take in the sounds of the rain on the awning above, on the metal tent ladder and on the ground below, the thunder crashing all around and the wind howling in the dark night air. It was time to unleash and piss away in this horrifying peaceful freedom...

This was the best piss I've taken in my life. Even if I could remember my first time peeing on earth as a baby human, that moment of peeing from the doorway of the rooftop tent in the middle of a stormy night in the forest of Utah would probably still best it.

PSA: When you leave your campsite, leave no trace like piss in the rain.

P.S. - Disclaimer: When pissing at the doorway of your rooftop tent while kneeling, it will require good core strength and balance. Hold on to something and/or secure yourself to avoid a nasty fall to the ground outside. If a partner is present, ask for their assistance to help secure you and prevent you from falling outside. Remember, you are still partially awake and partially in la la land in the middle of the night, so your brain's motor skills ain't at their best.

I just got this. Will be testing it tonight at the beach in Delaware. I wanted it to be rechargeable and have decent airflow (4 speeds). It also has a clamp and a hook
