Probably just not searching correctly, can anyone tell be what the distance is from center of one track to the center of the other? Specifically on Tepui. Is this spread standard or does it vary with models and brands?
Tent is en route, just trying to get the rack ready.

Have you used type A? The surface has a fabric feel to it. Not neoprene but sort of similar. Has a small amount of texture to it. It is not vinyl so I'm thinking type A.

 

Has anyone had problems with the rain fly rods on the cab side of the tent not having enough room to be installed properly? There's a chance the hole for that rod wasn't drilled at the right angle, but that would be a huge bummer, hoping someone has some good advice.

 

Not sure about the tear-aid, might work just fine. But my guess is that the Exped repair kit will work for sure.

 

I was going to suggest tenacious tape with a seam sealant. I know they make small kits that have the materials. They always came with higher end fishing waders if needed for river-side repair.

I’ve used this tape several times on my jackets, an oversized home air mattress and my ARB awning without any problems.

The spot is in a potentially high wear area. I'm certain it happened by the fabric getting pinched in the hinge of my RTT. What ever the solution, it needs to be able to flex because that is at the point where the pad folds when the tent is closed. It also appears that it needs to stand up to repeated abrasion.

I might just stop by REI and see if they have some tenancious tape I can inspect closer.

 

Remind me to show you how I put mine away to avoid the pinching - it's something I realized a couple trips ago and have a solution for now.

 

Any tips? I am running an exped in my rtt and am concerned about the pinch.

 

I use tenacious tape on my raingear fishing up in alaska, last coat i used it on the coat wore out and threw it away and the tenacious patch i put on a month prior was still stuck on good!

 

Either move the tent aft or bungee/tie off to the roof rack or whatever is available

One of the holes on my Tepui, when I had it, wasn’t drilled deep enough (giggity). I got rid of the tent before I messed with it though.

 

Yup. I use one metal rod in the corner that hangs off the side of the bed then tie the other side off on the prinsu. Works fine

 

I am swapping from a full height bedrack to mid height bars and just assume their is no way to use the rods for the cab side of the tent. Planned on tieing it off to the roof rack.

 

sounds like i need to pick up a roof rack then....

 

That is the way I have used mine. Up until your post, I hadn't thought of it too much. But now it got me thinking, if you have a factory roof rack or run an aftermarket like Thule (I usually have mine on for an awning and kayak) why not use a couple of guy lines between the fly and the rack to hold it open?
I'm going to try this when my new tent arrives.

 

Park with that side near a tree and tie off to that. Or thread an eyebolt into a roof rack mounting hole(make sure it’s water tight). But a roof rack has many uses...
