An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
All I'm saying is sometimes you build a bed rack three days before you're suppose to have the tent installed only to realize once you have the tent installed that you built it waaaay too short.:anonymous: The silver lining is that It gives you plenty of time to come up with a plan for version 2 (that will be stretched out the full five feet and a third bar added).

Great thread, lots of sweet setups here.

Couple pics of my Yakima Skyrise 3 setup over a GatorTrax MX tonneau cover. RTT opens to the drivers side and clears the fly rod holder when opening without issue.

Just a bunch of old crap
That's just ridiculous. Talk about being in a hurry to put a huge tent onto a setup that's not built for it. It's actually risking damaging the tent. If a bigger person lays up there on the overhang, it will deform.

Ok, stock OR suspension. Smittybilt XL Overlander RTT. Bed full of camping gear.

Would Sumo Springs be a good option?

    https://riversmith.com/products/river-quiver/fly-rod-roof-rack

It’s made by Riversmith. Best one out there as it has T-slot extruded aluminum channels on both top and bottom. Let’s you mount anything you like to it easily. I just added 2 IP65 700 lumen aluminum led lights underneath and a Thule Hideaway 8.5’ awning to the top. Everything mounts very solid and secure.

As for the extra support bracket. I had a local fab shop make a single 10ga support for the rear, has room for a 1.75gal fuel pack.

I also picked up a like new Freedom Grill FG-50 hitch mount grill off craigslist that swings and locks all the way over to the passenger side. Let’s me have everything pretty well lit and underneath the awning.

Well, after trolling and stalking the RTT thread, I pulled the trigger. Got tired of paying for hotel rooms while doing track days. Went with the RCI bed rack, super nice!! With a Kukenam 3 ruggedized on top. Just got it on and very happy with it, except I ran into 1 issue:
The rain rod will not insert fully due to roof line on the right side. I scooted the entire rack back, but still not enough room.
Any help or links on this issue????
    Thanks!!

Congrats on the Kukenam ruggedized, mines in Orange.
I have the same issue with the rain rod on the rear of the cab, not enough room.
No solution unless you raise up your tent from the rack about 12"

I run a Thule rack for kayaks and awning. I just run a guy wire to the rack if I want that rain fly open. Perhaps you could run a guy wire into the back door.

When I had my RTT, I ran a bungee with a plastic hook on one end and a knot on the other. Hook the hook in the grommet on the rain fly and close the knot in the front door. I had it in the back door first but found that in the wind it would slide back and then the fly would start to flap.

So after having my Exped MegaMat 10 Duo LXW for a little over a year - during which time I've spent about 90 nights on it - I figured it was time to share my long-term impressions as well as a few things I've learned. "Pro tips" as it were... or at least, "tips." I should also note here that I'm not sponsored by Exped in any way, and I paid full price for my mattress. I'm just a fanboi, and want to help others get a great night sleep.

TL;DR - I really like the Exped. Of everything I've done to make camping more enjoyable - including all the truck mods - it is my #2 mod of them all. Only the ARB Fridge is more valuable in my mind. So yeah, I recommend picking one up as soon as you can.

Man, I am seriously considering one of these. We got the "luxury" mattress from Tepui, but it's still way too thin. We're both side sleepers and we wake up with minor hip pain. Even being in our mid twenties these mattresses are still making us wake up with pain.

Do it. You won't regret it. The price is hard to swallow but your first pain-free night of sleep on it will make it worth it. As long as you use your RTT regularly at least.

I got my ARB RTT a few weeks ago. Have spent 4 nights in it so far and we are really happy with it. Was too tall on the camper shell so I had to change things up a little and get a Diamondback, but so far I love this system.
